My two year old girls are inside for the winter. ... all was going fine til today. Tilly the boss who eats for england and is very vocal every time i go in the room. Was quiet and hidden away most of the day. The room can get a little cold so to begin with I took it that she was just snuggled up and warm. She didn't take her strawberry this morn which isn't like her... but it was gone later on so maybe she just didn't feel like it. I got them both out later as I was a little concerned she wasn't herself. They both stayed in their hides for floortime and even when I brought in the veg at tea time... she ate but I didn't get the usual squeaks where she just won't shut up. She didn't run around at all. I can't see anything wrong although it's hard as she's got so much fur at the moment. Her nails looked too long so I cut them a little. She wasn't happy and wouldn't eat while I did. Not sure if that's just because it's been a while since I did them? I can't decide if maybe there is something wrong in her mouth but how do i know? She s back in her cage now and eating pellets but very quiet. Can they just have bad days?

Mine have quiet days but not to a great extent. Usually if they are subdued it means they are coming down with something. Is she hunched, fluffed up? Teeth chattering?

She is very fluffy anyway so I prob wouldn't see there... She was a lot more docile to be honest where normally I have to get her into her little house then I can pick her up from in there... or she would run and chatter back at me to stay away.. but today I was able to pick her up just sat next to the house where she wasn't running away. She did have a little squeal while I was clipping her nails and vibrated a bit meaning she was frightened.. but I havnt done her nails in a long time so could be linked.
Can see how she goes over the next few days... grumpy I can get.. they both get that.. but she's the opposite of what she is normally.

I'm having the same problem with my 9 month old male, who usually loves to engage himself with the other boys, but he's just excluding himself from the other boys and isn't eating or drinking, I've had this for a couple of days now and spoke to the vets, researched, and booked an appointment for tomorrow, but guinea pigs can hide illness or awhile and personally, I think it's an URI, which is devastating since it would be too late for the treatment to be effective in time.
