OMG!
:whistle::whistle::whistle:
i was just feeding the girls before bedtime, afterwards for some reason i decided to give Dopple a quick goodnight cuddle...
she had a few little rattley, juddery squeaks that seemed to get more whistle'y, i managed to get my phone out of my pocket to capture some of it, she was sat there chirping away for about 2 minutes in my arms occasionally talking to her.

the other two were in the cage, not really taking any notice.

However after she had finished, Orca who is normally the most skittish was sat in her cardboard tube ready for bed (as usual), but then she actually let me tickle her head & nose as though in a slightly mesmerised state before i left them.

the video is a little dark & cluttered but here you go... I'm so chuffed

Fantastic to see! After I closed the video I kept hearing chirping noises in my head haha :))

:D What a lovely sound! I have never heard of a piggie singing when a human is nearby, let alone being cuddled, so you are very honoured! Very well done on getting it on your phone! I wonder what it means? I played the video while sitting two piggies on my lap - and got absolutely no reaction at all! So I don't think it's a danger signal. All of the instances I've heard of come from piggies in good homes (including two of mine!). Perhaps piggies sing when they're really happy like people sometimes do? :hmm:

@7squeakers. Must admit I was really surprised when she started.

It was a sort of weird high pitched squeak to start off with after her little judder session.
I just knew there was something different taking place :)

She's only the second piggy I've had chirp. The first one only did it for a short time when she discovered her new hutch mate after the loss of her sister&being on her own for nearly 2wks .

Hers was definitely a happy chorus for her new friend

Xx

I haven't plucked up courage to play it back with them about - not sure why- the other two didnt really have a reaction, apart from orca being slighty mesmerised afterwards.

Awww how cute?! What does this noise mean? Mine have never made anything like this (not that I've heard). Are my boys not happy :(?

That's a proper chirp alright :D I've only had one do that, I thought we had a bird loose in the house, went into the dining room & saw our PEW Aby sitting there making the same noise, for about a minute! She sat stock still, like in a trance, it was unnerving lol :D

XD i shouldn't worry, nobody has ever really worked out why they do it. its only the second time i have known it with mine & i've had quite a few furballs over the years!

i think Dopple went on for about 2.5 minutes. she hardly moved either. i had goosebumps up my arms & a silly big grin from ear to ear :woot:when she was doing it, it was charming & eerie at the same time!
xx

I've only ever heard this once.. From my beautiful mallow. She woke me up, it was around 4 in the morning.. Once i realised what it was i slowly lifted my head to find the culprit, and there she was standing with her little nose in the air singing away. Was not long after poppet came to live with her.

What a beautiful girl you have!

It really is special xx

Nothing to worry about at all, you have been blessed with a singing piggy. It's quite rare and no one knows why they sing. Lucky you.
This is a video of our departed TomTom, he was a prolific singer and we miss him so much.
