Our two piggies will only be 5wks old when we get them so is there anything in the fresh food dept. that we should avoid or can they eat basically any of the veg etc that's been mentioned on here on previous posts?

Thanks for all your good advice as always :)

I personally would have thought that 5 weeks was a bit too young to be taken from their mummy. Is there a particular reason why?

I've never had pigs as young as that but I'd go very easy on any veg at the start and introduce it very gradually watching out for any upset tums.

No we are getting them from a local lady and she said as they are fit and healthy and they are going together then she has no problems with it and their mum is getting fed up with them lol.

are they boys or girls? as really they should be on their own for at least a week after leaving mum before they go to any new home (also, if there are boys and girls in the litter I'd be worried about pregnancies)

they should have already had a variety of veg, so it should be fine to feed them whatever you get, it might take them a while to try new things but they'll get the hang of it.

We went to see them Tuesday and they were going to be seperated before Sunday. It's fine they are just girls.

Yes they've been munching on grass and small pieces of veg already so I'll take it slowly.

Thanks for the advice x

My 7 week old Little Boy adores Cucmber, cant seem to tempt him with much else at the moment, He had a nibble at some Green pepper today but didnt seem too keen. He enjoyed a slice of carrot too and some fresh grass :)
Apart from that it seems its Hay alll the way with him.
Hope your babies get on well xx

Thanks for the info I'll be patient with them and keep trying different things I'm letting the grass grow and it's coming on lovely with the rain and warmth (any excuse not to do the gardening lol)! My mum has some lovely cucumbers, tiny toms and peppers growing so I'll be off to raid the greenhouse on Sunday!

Thanks again for the help it's always nice to have some advice as this is the first time we've had guineas.

aw!

Good luck with your new little girls! Have you decided their names yet? I often find that girls aren't as tame towards humans at first but they'll gradually warm to you! My 4 year old virtually jumps out at me when I go to see her! Have Fun! :))
