And happened to walk past a beautiful young sow. Only looked a few months old, on her own and all it would take it a tenner to take her ( donation) but I just cannot do it, Bernie would be fine but dot already on edge with Bernie. Such a shame. I'm not getting her, but it's made me upset lol what a wimp, I just don't want it going to a crap home. Damn I'm an idiot, I went in for Alfie my rat for. Hay cube

Aww it's hard I remember when I was desperate for a friend for Daisy no rescues had any single sows or neutered boars. All I could get was in tact males including p@h adoption centres which I was in 2-3 times a week. There were some adorable boars I got to cuddle too but Daisy was in my temporary indoor cage and I didn't have a second for a boar going through neutering!

I'm sure she won't go to a bad home, p@h have quizzed me when I took in Daisy and then Lily at a later date (and different store) about my set up, the need for companionship etc so they carry out some checks and then call a couple of days later to make sure everything's going well

Cheers for the reply. I feel weird inside, you. Don't come across single sows often, this is exactly how I ended up with Dot, but I'm glad I did, anyway if I got a 2nd sow, I would need a bigger cage, more space, more time, more expense, I don't know what health issues are coming, and it could even be a male. She's very small

What makes it harder is that I have a neutered boar and spayed sow 😔

Please don’t feel bad. We are a band of people who love our piggies and other animals. We can’t care for them all. I’ve seen solo Piggies at PAH and have felt bad I haven’t brought them home, Daytime tele is full of animal and children charity’s asking for money and it’s heartbreaking we can’t save them all. Try and take comfort and pride that we do love and care for for what we have and maybe the sow will find a great forever home. You are obviously a caring person and I so commend you for that. We can’t save all piggies but we can sure give the ones we care about in our lifetimes the best they can have x

I can't believe I was shaking a bit when I see her. I don't know what that was all about, I must really love animals.

She was a smooth haired, silver agouti, with ginger and sand colour striped face and a pink patch on ear ( just healthy skin)

I'm a sucker for singles.. at this point I have so many my excuse is 'Well, one of mine is bound to like her!' 😅 but I think I am now at my limit with 14..so i've sworn off looking. It's like a military operation lately getting me in and out of pet stores whilst avoiding any and all guinea pigs!

I bet the one I see, was one that had an illness and was put out back until recovery. Or someone returned her because her mate died. Its normally the way

It's always hard.
I was recently asked to take on an older neutered boar.
I was so deeply tempted as we have lots of space and great home to offer, but deep down I knew he would upset our current, fragile but happy, group dynamics.
It broke my heart to say no, but sometimes you have to put the piggies that you already have first.

Aww. It's so hard not to take them home. I know because I now have 14. Lol. Hopefully you can move past this. Or do what i would do and brainstorm a plan to bring her home 😂. Just kidding
My wife wouldn't let me anyway, when we got Dot on the spur of the moment, not planned at all. We had a bad argument, and we agreed to take her back the next day... 3 and a half years later and probably about £500 vet bills, she's our pride and joy, along with the rest of our animals of course

Yea it's not worth the risk of upsetting. But I think bernie would take her in, Dot is a 50 50 at a guess. she doesn't like bernie near her too much, so I doubt a sow would be any better. And then I have the worry of ovarian problems in another sow, which I have already kind of been through with Dot, but she had her uterus and ovaries taken out because of a tumour in her uterus or on, I don't know

This is why I don't walk past the adoption part anymore, always a piggy on its own and sometimes labelled 'must live alone due to bullying' and I've very nearly had a few oops moments and brought a single boar home for neuturing, I don't walk past anymore because I know if I saw one with a similar label I would most definitely now I have a huge cage with room for a divide bring home a boar to neuter for nugget/marshmallow 🙈🙈 my vets is at the back of pets at home and the number of times sweet little piggies have come to say hi walking past I'm always like I want them all 🙄🙄 but I need to clear somme of the vet bill credit card first as its nearly full (it's been a hectic year) 😅
