I've been using Just Grass, just like Readigrass in my pigs cages for a while and a massive sack is lasting for ever, so is really good value.
My question is, is this on its own, a suitable substitute for hay, or do they need that too?

They need hay to, I get the timothy hay from dustfree hay, 2boxes for £22.99 last me 2-3 weeks with my 6 pigs x x

They need the hay. Its coarser than the grassy stuff and wears their toothy pegs down. I love the smell of the readigrass!

I agree, they do need hay. It is good for their teeth, and good for them.

I agree hay is a staple part of any south american rodents diet, it helps wear all the teeth down, different grasses and types of hay help with this but hay good quality timothy hay should be the staple :)
