Bought some Lord Sheratons wood balm for my pine kitchen table. It was ok for 5 minutes but then the smell started really bad of the turpintine it contains. I opened all doors and windows but the piggies are in the kitchen. Really worried in case its affected them. I have asthma and my chest has tightened. This was at 8pm tonight and its just going. Freezing cold house with doors and windows open, i cant breathe and the girls are in their hidey. I certainly wont use this again, the fumes are lethal.

Have you got an extractor fan in the kitchen you could run to get rid of the fumes, you don't want to chill your piggies too much. I hope your piggies are ok. Maybe take the table into the garden out of the way till it is completely dry?

Do you meen the stuff that is like a fawn color past ?

The table is big and heavy and no one is in the house to help. I have an extractor fan and just put it on. Didnt think of that! Yes gizzy thats the stuff. Put heating on a bit higher so its warmer now and the girls are out again. I am worried that as its affected my chest it could affect theirs. The tin doesnt warn of strong smell. It must contain a lot of turpintine. Table looks nice but not worth this.

Can you move the pigs into a different room for the night?

They will have to come upstairs as all downstairs there are fumes. What a friday night. Bought it from amazon today, never used it before. I dont know what the girls are thinking. Had a cage clean earlier and they settled down happily then mum does this. Its been an hour and a half since i used it and about 80% of the smell has gone. Not going to bed for another hour so i will see how it is by then. Thanks for your replies. Appreciated.

Update: just closed the door and window and the fumes are barely there. Thank god. Room temperature held at 20 C so i think i have got rid of it. Asthma hasnt flared up either touch wood so can go to bed now. I need a stiff drink after tonights drama. Will never use it again and its now in the bin. Thanks for listening.
