He'll, if we're going that route, let's just name him SEVEN & call it a day?! HAHAHAHAHA

Just thought of Oliver, Ollie for short...

My head hurts!

I knew Gus was Gus before I even laid eyes on him! My friend merely described him to me over the phone & I just knew- he's my Gus!

Why is this so hard?!?!?!?

HAHAHAHAHA I'm not a drinker really, not unless you count Tea & if that's where this is going, my tea of choice is Barry's Gold! HAHAHAHAHA
BUT HE DOESNT MUCH LOOK LIKE A BARRY THOUGH, HUH?

I keep going back to Finigan, Finney or Fin Fin for short...

Ok, so here's the story... There was a male guinea pig up for adoption, he was a year old & Gus & I went today to meet him. I had very high hopes tht the two would be fast friends, sadly, I was wrong.

They met in a safe, controlled environment & because both are mature, intact males, there was not only a figurative pissing contest but it was quite literal as well- that poor blanket never stood a chance!

IF things had worked out as I had hoped, that little guy would have come home with us and Gus would have had his very own cage mate.

I am sad things didn't work out, now poor Steve (his name at the MSPCA Animal Rescue) will have to wait to be adopted by a family who can make him their one and only.

...for what it's worth, IF he had joined our family, he would have been Oliver. *sniffle*

Awww, I'm so sorry it didn't work out, it would have been lovely to have a friend for Gus! He was so beautiful!

Will you be trying Gus with any other piggies?

I'd like to, but after what I saw today, it's clear that it's going to have to be a baby boy, not a mature male... One who looks at Gus as his "Parent". We'll see... Gus is just happy to be back home.

It's been a long, challenging adventure; 45 minutes there, a meet & greet that aggressively came & went, another 45 minutes home in a carrier he most definitely does NOT like, and now he just wants to be chill, fat & happy in his clean house with fresh veg.

My sweet boy was a TROOPER!

Sad to hear it didnt work out for Gus but you did the right thing by taking him to a shelter to see if he was compatible with the other boar. Don't give up on the forever friend for Gus as there is a piggy out there just waiting for him.

Lisa & Ali..x

It's ok, our hearts were in the right place! Especially Gus's, he was all happy wheeks & popcorning all over the place & Steve was having none of it and immediately got all Alpha on my sweet Gus.

Gus is a lover, not a fighter.
❗

And clearly you all saw how nearly impossible it was for me to even pick a name for him! It was only after I saw his face (prior to the aggression) that I knew I would have given him the name: Oliver.

I hope someone can see it in their heart to give him another shot at a happy home and that their patience and love can bring out his sweet side and melt away his aggression. Poor little guy!

Would neutering Gus be an option? Then you could adopt a girlfriend piggy? Am I correct in thinking you have girl piggies too?! Maybe he could be neutered and bonded with them? :D
