I have just collected 2 males off Freecycle and the conditions they were in were filthy.

There is a ginger and white one with pink eyes who is gorgeous and he has medium length fur and a massive matt of fur over his bum, how is best to clean this up and clip it?

They have never been handled properly and are nearly one. I need advice on bathing them and clipping their claws etc. Please help x

For nail clipping look at this sticky thread: http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=61

For cutting hair: use sharp scissors. Hold your index and third finger between the scissors and the skin. Hold the hair GENTLY between those fingers, so you don't pull on the skin (which is very hurtful) and won't cut your piggy if it jumps.

For bathing you may need more than one wash. Check their grease glands.

I'm wishing you and those poor boys all my best!

You lovely person!

You should do before and after pics! I love seeing animals looking happy and healthy after a bad life.

(If you are scared of doing it yourself, you could maybe get a vet nurse to do it). :)

AWW Well done you. Poor boys are lucky to have found you.

Good luck and yes before and afters would be great if they aren't too shy.

I still get amazed at how people can be so mean to animals and not look after even the easiest of animals. GRRR

They aren't too bad to be honest. They have a couple of bad mats of fur but their claws aren't too bad and nothing a good bath wouldn't fix. They need so much love and attention. I am just glad to get them away from there xx
