I was just in my local pet store.

I'm sorry guys, I don't drive and on foot, it's the best I can do. Even though they sell animals I have an obligation to put my boys first. As you should all know very well.
I needed carefresh and food today.

Anyways. enough excuses. I was in the pet store and I was looking at the Guinea pigs.
I noticed that one had a really pointy nose...But when he stopped...It looked like his nose had been bitten.
I called one of the assistants over and said that one of their male pigs had a "funny nose" and she was all "aww~" and I said: "No, I mean, I think his nose has been bitten." and she insisted that his nose was just...Pointy.
I admit, it did look that way but from other angles, it didn't look right.

I don't have money for vets bills and if I brought home another pig...My dad would take all 3 of them and give them to the RSPCA. I can't afford to rescue a pig, as I said, my boys come first.
But that being said...That poor little thing. What if it gets infected?
It's clear that it was a rabbit that had done it...Because one of the rabbits was being very aggressive toward him and he kept running away when that one rabbit went near him.

I don't feel I can just leave him there.

I know some people stand on "No matter what, don't BUY."
But I stand on "ALL animals deserve a loving home."
I don't support breeding like that and when I get my 3rd boy...I'm going to adopt but that doesn't disregard the fact that there's an animal, 5 minutes away from my home that probably needs veterinary attention right now.

The fact that there's nothing I can do....Really hurts...

I am sorry, I know just how you feel, but we can't save them all. For every one we buy and bring home, there are more waiting to be put in with the same rabbit etc...
I unfortunately went into a pet shop near me last week, a smaller type store and I was horrified. The guineas were in glass tanks on sawdust. No hay, no water, no food of any description. Seven guineas and one baby rabbit in a small tank, one guineas two ears had bad fungal or had been eaten away, another was limping, all hot and miserable. There were at least 6 of these tanks.

When I got home, I called the RSPCA and reported it. They will doubtless do nothing....and so it goes on :(

Best not to look :(

Yes. I think you're right.

From now on...I think I'll purchass my Guinea supplies online.
It means I'll have to be extra careful so that I don't run out of things but after seeing what I saw and hearing what you just said; lavenderjade
I think I should avoid pet stores that sell animals because now I feel just awful.
If I hadn't have seen it, I'd never have known and I'd be feeling fine right now.

It's a selfish thing to say. But as you said; We can't save them all.
In cases like this...Ignorance really is bliss.

But I felt so awful that I...Well...I spoiled my boys rotten.
I even remodeled their cage.
And that's since posting this. I made a huge fuss of them, gave them lots of veggies and extra hay x.x

It makes me feel a little better.
That poor little thing may not have the life he deserves but hey, someone nice might buy him and help him.
But I know that I have 2, happy, healthy boys...So I think I should focus on that and be happy that at least 2 Guineas have a very nice home.

Plus there's all of you guys. So that's lots of Guineas that have really nice homes.

Your local council issues the licence to sell pets in shops.

Report the matter to your local council as soon as you can. :)

I can do that?

Really?

You think they might check it out?

Oh! I'll get right on it then!

Okay well apparently I can't contact them until Monday. I just checked their site to find their phone number and they're closed -.-

Thank you, anyway. I'll call them on monday.
It's such a long way away ;.;
