I just wanted to say I've only owned guinea pigs since June 2015 and am totally bowled over by them. I love reading these forums and how everybody dotes on their piggies. It makes me smile and, when I go on the Rainbow Bridge forum, cry. I love all the photos too.

Having had many different pets (including rodents) throughout my life, I am amazed that I never even considered them. But I am so glad we now have our little herd in our lives. They make me laugh every day, especially when they wheek with every rustle and hang out their cage to get to the coriander before it's even out of the bag. I love cuddling them particularly my Margaret, who was from Gumtree. She is my girl now and gifts me with chooken legs, kisses and lots of poops every night!

They are such wonderful little creatures, with great personalities. I can see how easily it is to become piggy mad! :nod:
 
I know what you mean. I've kept mice, gerbils, hamsters, rats, all with their own charms, all loved, but there's just something about piggies.
Yep, sounds like those little fur-balls have got a firm hold over your heart, and probably your fridge too! :)

Yes, I loved my rats and even the smelly ferrets - all with their own personalities - but the piggies are something else! :love:
 
I know what you meen , l have kept all manner of critters from reptiles to a horse , but the only animal that
I could not seem to live with out are guinea pigs, I fact l am in the process of adopting 2 nuterd boars from a guinea
Pig rescue in Kent . They should go nicely with a Cople of groups of sows that have no husboars at the moment

:) They are very special. I love seeing our two in the morning squished up against the bars.... We don't get that much wheeking now but do get this absolute frantic bar climb for food :)

Who knew that piggies can climb? They also develop giraffe necks to reach for the food first!

(Phew! I said it! :D)

They are so addictive, everything about them. One reason why I've clocked up so many thousands of miles just for piggies! I bloody love them! :luv:
 
From two piggies to six in just a year... Friends and family think I'm a little mad, but I couldn't live without them (even though I spend 2-3 hours a day feeding one of them on top of everything else). I'm learning new things like sewing too, so they can be as comfy as possible!

@Flamestriker; it's funny, our two boys didn't wheek much until we got our four ladies. Now both herds scream whenever they hear you turn over in bed, never mind hearing you come up the stairs or rattle their food box (even at 4.30am... oops, sorry neighbours! :xd:).
 
Stilt walker boars, as l call them are so funny , (a boar that raises his whole boby and almost walks on tip toes )
you don't see it oftern , in fact l only remember it a handfull of times in 40 years , but you will recognise
It imedeatly, Usaly a boar that feels he needs to assert him self
 
Danielle Smith I went from two piggies to six in under six months! And no, my females did not have babies!

I love the way a small herd interacts. They are obsessed with each other yet still love cuddles from their humans. All six are great at taking meds, although they do have their moments. Cutting nails us tricky, but once the fungal issues have gone they will be booked in for some pampering!
 
I adore mine and really enjoy spending time with them. They are so so so so so so pretty and sweet and noisy x
 
Hi everyone! I started with one guinea last year, his name was Percy. We loved him so much that we soon got another who we named Thomas...(my bf is obsessed with trains, so the names came easily lol) Unfortunately just a few months after we got Thomas Percy passed away and it left us devastated. We hated the thought of Thomas being alone so we eventually got 2 others...Rex and Teddy....they were already bonded well so we didn't want to split them. After all was said and done everyone gets along and loves each other. We learn from our little pack everyday and love how their different personalities show & stand out. Thomas as our outgoing little fella, Rex as our chucky monkey and Teddy as our shy guy. :lol: They make our home complete!
