Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on what my pig might be trying to communicate and/or is feeling.

For context, she is a 2 and a half year old who lived with another similar age piggie called Rosie before she passed, and in their time together both just exhibited normal behaviours and next door to them lived our other older single sow Maggie.

So whilst we grieved both Maggie and Daisy lived next door to each other in a giant C&C cage with a divider down the middle. Daisy at this point started chewing the bit of the divider near to the wall like she was trying to get in with Maggie. We also for the first time heard Daisy chirp and decided now was the time to bond.

The bond went succesful so we took the divider down but left one segment up so we could balance a piece of reinforced cardboard over the part of the cage nearest the wall to store some pig stuff on top.

Now this is when it gets odd. The bit of the divider left there is the same bit Daisy used to chew. She still does it now despite the fact that she can easily get around it. Also, she will chew this particular segment even when its not time to feed. Both her and Maggie come up to the front to chew the bars there when its feeding time. She does it anytime of the day and also since bonding she has chirped one other known time. She didn't do any of this behaviour when she still had Rosie.

I've attached a photo of the area where the section in question can be seen. Just to note, she will only ever chew it from the side where the purple house is at, never the other side.

Sounds like she’s got a little obsessed by it. Can you remove that part of the dividers?
