Pets4homes whilst researching piggie rescues in Lancs. I'm horrified with some of the comments. "Selling because son not interested" " must live alone because always has done" the pig was only 1 year old! And so many breeders. No wonder the rescues are so busy with pigs being churned out like that....it's making me want to rescue them all as they are treated like a comodity but I'd never fund that in a million years. Some very local to me here & makes me realise how very blessed the piggies are on here with such loving owners/carers.

Right, back to researching rescues!

:agr:
If people are getting a pet they should make sure that they are equipped to take on that responsibility, that they will give them the care needed and that they want the animal in the first place. I think it is terrible that so many people buy pets and then ditch them because they aren't interested anymore. It is so sad to see.
Good luck searching for rescues

Unlike here, where I just got turned down by a rescue, becasue despite offering an experienced and loving home our cage (5x2 C&C) is too small 🙄
Trying my hardest to be positive and philosophical....
On the plus side there is no question that neutering all males before they are made available to the general public works - where else could rescues have such stringent re-homing guidelines?

Oh for goodness sake that's ridiculous- you of all people have so much knowledge of piggies (as much as them & more probably) & have provided valuable support to other experienced piggie owners like myself. If they need a reference I feel a letter coming on ha ha 🤗 if it makes you feel better I got a grilling from pets at home for 2 tiny fish on my tank size. I get why but my tank is big & I could be keeping them in my sink for all they know! ....my local aquarium asks nothing, the fish are much better looked after & attract a better clientele than pets at home with all their rules. If you're going to a rescue in the first place surely they must realise you are serious. Keep positive ❤

That's how we got Theo, I stumbled on him while searching for a bigger second-hand cage in the free ads...
He was 14 weeks old and his previous owner was giving him away after having him for 5 weeks, apparently the teenage daughter he was bought for refused to clean his cage and said he was "boring and smelly" so they were giving him away and getting a puppy for her instead!
Theo is a very happy boy now but its sad to think how many piggies don't get lucky...

I'm certain Theo is in a much better place than the puppy! 👍 x
