Just Took Colin To The Vets

He has very dark black claws and we were worried we weren't cutting them back enough.

Saw the nurse and she looked at his claws and said the length was absolutely fine! :yahoo:

And, there was no charge for the appointment!

Colin behaved very well, especially enjoying the nurse telling him how gorgeous he is! :luv:

Cutting black claws is easiest against a source of light, like a side light or a sunny window. I know people that have used a photocopier... :yikes:

Another useful indicator as to how far back you can cut safely is that the nail surface becomes slightly more irregular and often starts to twist when it is no longer live when you look at it closely, especially in older piggies

I tried shining a torch behind it but the quick was nearly up to the nail end which, obviously, was the correct length!
