Jyn passed away a week ago today. She was half of my first pair of guinea pigs in 20 years and while I only had her for three months, those three months were incredible. She was so talkative, friendly and curious - she always had to see what I was up to, just in case there was some food. Despite having a difficult few months (rescued, fostered, adopted, fostered again before she got to me) she was so quick to trust me, eating from my hand less than 24 hours after she arrived. Her confidence rubbed off on her friend Tico too! During poop sweeping she always ran around me, making sure I did a good job and testing to see if my toes/knees/the dustpan were edible yet. She seemed clever too, able to solve puzzles and use her paws to get the best food before Tico could.

Jyn always let you know how she was feeling. Mostly she was feeling hungry, and if she heard movement she'd wheek (very loudly, with her sides pumping!) just in case. But also she'd tell you when you gave her particularly tasty food, with a little 'brrp!' before she took it away to eat. Or if you fed her something that displeased madam's delicate palate, she'd toss it aside and demand something better.

She always managed to get comfy no matter the circumstances. Whether she was in a fleece bag or a pouch, or on a lap, she would settle down and rest her chin so she could watch the world go by.

Jyn was an absolute ray of sunshine and I'm grateful for all the time I got with her. I just wish it could have been longer.

I am sorry that you didn’t have longer together. Popcorn freely at the Rainbow Bridge, little one x

Sorry for your loss. She sounded a fantastic and fun little character who was very happy with you in the time you had her. Such a shame it wasn’t longer but it’s good you have some nice memories of a what sounds like a very special piggy.

Aw she's gorgeous and what a character she sounds. Her little paws out in the last photo are adorable, she's surveying her land. Sorry it was such a short time together, she sounded so happy with you.

Just wanted to say that I got to know Jyn quite well, as part of my lockdown 'bubble'. She was a lovely little girl and it was a privilege getting to know her. I’ll always remember her little character and treasure her little ways, like when she’d rest her chin on my arm whilst having a cuddle, or the little ‘brrrrps’ she made when getting a particularly tasty treat 😊 She was thoroughly loved in those short months.
