yet again this shop has piggies,3 that have been there for months now and theyre all white boys with red eyes,it seems no-one wants them,I'm so tempted to offer them £25 ( for all 3) to give them a loving home, theyre kinda ratty faced but looks sooooo sad sitting there fluffed up in a corner :'( :'(
they even came across to us and squeaked a bit
*sighs lots*

if theyll accept my offer though, buit if theyre desp to get rid then I dont see why not, theyre big boys and have been kept in with the rabbits and also need a bath :'(

Aww :( I'm sure they will. But the moment they're sold, I'm sure they will be replaced quick :-\

Sadly you are right there Kelly :(

You can only do what you think is right, but personally I would only offer to take them off their hands for nothing. If they say "no", you could try simply leaving your name and telephone number and smiling sweetly... ask would they give you a ring if they do decide to let them go free of charge. If they really can't sell them, my guess is that they will be in touch ;)

I would make a lower offer £25 is ridiculous, just plain greed or while not looking pigsnatch him

only you can make this choice if you really feel they need a good home and you can do it well, I guess I would but i'm a softy

£25.00 does seem an awful lot for a guinea pig, it doesn't make sense for people to pay these prices (generalising) when there are beautiful guineas of all ages in rescue patiently waiting for homes :(

They've been in there since xmas if they're the ones I'm thinking about. I would try & leave them in there if I were you, they only have limited pens so they won't be able to get more in if they are there. It horrible though knowing that they could have a better life - but if it saves more going through the same treatment......

yeah theyre the ones, theyve been on since late Oct i think
all the other pens are empty, all the new baby rabbits they had in last week have suddenly gone and also the big ones, theres only one baby left on its own which is weird
its a bit like where did all the birds etc go at P@ H ?

well i talked to the manageress today, she wont give in to my demands, lol
i mentioned what people had said to me ( offering her a set amount for all 3 and stuff like that )
all she said is " well theyll go one day maybe "
god knows when that one day will be,and she mentioned no-one likes them because theyre white with red eyes >:(

*sighs*

For what it is worth, I sincerely believe that you have done the right thing by not buying them from this shop.

Maybe the next time you visit she will re-think the situation, just stay on "friendly" terms with her and see what happens.
Sadly it just goes to show the greed and lack of concern of this place doesn't it? If there was any interest in the animals wefare, having satisfied herself (if she was bothered) that it was a genuine offer of a good home...she would have surely given them a chance of a life outside of a pet shop cage?

i totally agree!

those lil guys must be sick of just being passed by,ill keep my eye on them ;)

This is so sad - in our local pets@home there is a big white piggies with pink eyes, and has been there for months as well. They keep putting new batches in, its just horrible to feel so powerless to stop these places from selling live animals. When you have staff who are paid minimum wage and know so little about caring for individual species and give such inadequate 'advice' it's not surprising so many end up in rescue >:( I hate reading stuff like this..

I keep wondering whether or not to write to my MP and see if something can legally be done about pet stores selling live animals, why is it allowed to happen?! :-\

Hi,
There is a current thread on here where a member is urging people to write and complain about the care of animals in pet shops. You might want to take a look, if you haven't already done so :)

Hopefully one day we will see an end to this...Like many people I hope so. It's not an impossibility, I can remember when animals were allowed to be sold from outdoor market stalls and that was thankfully stopped. Not sure what year?

I cannot believe that those piggies are still in Kayes. I saw them months ago my daughter wanted to show them me when we was passing. Do not like the shop myself those cages that they keep the animals in have been there since the place opened and thats at least 25 years ago.
