Yesterday I went to the pet shop for the usual stuff. I always check out the pets (big kid, me! - tell me you do it as well!) There was a tiny plain ginger rex (teddy) with huge eyes, all my itself, sibling was sold last week apparently. It was hiding in a tube, peeping out and looking like it needed mothering . . .

I can't tell you how many times I've thought about this little piggy. I just wanted to buy it and bring it home to live with my happy gang. First separated from its mother, now its sibling has gone.

My OH says I can't buy a pig every time I see one on its own ;D, I know I can't but this one really has got into my heart!

I hope someone buys it soon before I pass the shop at a weak moment!

awwww I'm afraid I'm ruled by my heart not my head and totally admit it, so knowing me I would most likely have brought him ,I know pet shops are not everyones ideas of being pig friendly but it would be MY choice and I know the piggy would be loved and spoilt,

I would find it very hard to leave a piggy alone in a pet shop with no one to love it.
I know that lots of people dont feel the same way but Id be thinking of that animal rather than the bigger pigture too I'm afraid.

What would you be like if you live where I do, one minutes walk from P@H, soooo tempting, I am getting a new piggie soon but am re-homing him, don't want to go down the pet shop route unnessasarily, but i have to go look, and i want them all.

This is the trouble, we're in there every couple of weeks for bits and bobs so how many will I end up with? ;D Mind you I do have a spare hutch . . .

I can resist when there's several, it's just cos this one's on its own. Hubby would go so mad! (but I love him when he's angry ;)) ;D Still thinking of that piggy . . .

just don't tell him, bring him home, say nothing, see how long it takes him to realise, and when he does, say you don't know how it got there LOL, once you get the piggie he won't mind. you know you want to.

ooh and i thought I was crafty, I never go out looking for a pig in a pet shop but if for some reason I see one like you did well all reason goes out of the window I'm afraid, trying to avoid PAH as much as possible mum tells me that alls well because I am keeping any eye on the store as its just opened and want to be sure its animal friendly still, and their standards dont slip

OK, OK! Thank you for helping me to realise that I'm not mad and I need to do what I need to do . . . . guess what?

I'VE BOUGHT HER!

She is seven weeks old and is sitting here on my lap, a real little darling. The girl in the shop nearly cried cos she'd got attached to her and kept cuddling her as she was on her own in there and she felt sorry for her . . .

Undecided on a name yet, will let you know, and post piccies later if you'd like to see my new baby! xxxxxxx

You BIG softy - like all of us on here ;D

Look forward to piccies.

Just one thing - does your OH know?

yay,i am so glad you got her, are you going to tell your oh or wait till he realises?
can't wait to see photos

I haven't decided whether I'll tell him yet. Trouble is, I can't wait to tell the kids . . . and they won't be able to keep a secret like that for long will they! (I better cook him a really nice dinner)

good idea, that should work, be extra nice too.
I decided a few days ago to seperate toffee from star and maisy (through bullying) and I had to butter my oh up so I could re home another boar to keep toffee company, He never wants more pets but he always lets me to keep me happy.
We are picking one of two neutered boars on Sunday at the RSPCA centre,
My14yr old daughter has also been buttering him up for the last few weeks cause she wants rats, He has buckled and her deluxe rat cage is on it's way.

OMG that's just made me feel really guilty, I've just remembered my 8 year old wanted a hamster for her birthday last month and we said no . . . :embarassed: :embarassed:

Mind you, they are nocturnal, that was our main objection, it would be getting up as she went to bed, not to mention all that night time rattling in the wheel - I used to have hamsters, they are lovely, but you need to be up a bit later than she is to appreciate them. (Trying to make myself feel better here.)

no your right we've had hamsters in the past, and if your daughter is too young she would never see it, ours used to be out around 8pm onwards.
My daughter Keira has a gerbil at the moment, she lost her gerbil sister a few months ago, she's 4 now so she is really old.
They are not nocturnal, but need to be kept in an aquarium not a cage. They make great pets.

my hubby is the same he agrees to keep me happy bless him he even tells me when he hears of a pig or pigs needing a new home like he did in January I ended up with 5 and a one had a baby so 6 , and all are staying with me for ever, we are all led by our hearts rather then our brain soft as putty but I am glad you got her

Awwwwww you big softie :smitten: :smitten:

Can she type us a message to say hello ;)

She sounds just beautiful :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Me and my mum have deceived my dad for many years! When I use to get top spec trainers we use to tell him they cost a tenner and he believed us!

I was going to get 2 a while back when I was only suppose to get one. I was going to tell him that the other one followed us home or that we had just 'found them!'!

Not the 'Super-Pet Deluxe Rat Cage' I hope?
If so...the cage is too small for 2 rats, plus the bars are too wide for young rats!

hi debs, pmd you about rats not long back, my daughter is getting the critter 3 cage, she has contacted the breeder in Ipswich (thanks for getting her the email address) once she has brought everything she needs to go in the cage, she will be getting 2 baby females.
just used the word deluxe because it's a really good cage.
