Hope someone can give me some advice... Pru (our 8 month old girl) always has a mucky bum (urine). I clean her cage every other day and she has plent of floor time (including making use of 'toilet area') but she's constantly soggy. I try to bathe her once a month, but i'm just worried it can't be good for her in the interim. Any tips? Thanks!

The only time I've come across this was when we had a small igloo which clipped together so the plastic base became a pee puddle if they were in there, I don't use that type anymore and have dry bums allround. Is she long haired and if so could you trim that area shorter ?

I have two shelties who like to sit in their own wee or anyone else for that matter)..

I keep the hair really short around their bums and in between times i give them a cornflour bath.

The cornflour is sprinkled on the wet hair and then brushed out, it helps loosen any dirt and absorns some of the wetness.

Well, George, my coronet, was always wet underneath, and I never really thought anything of it. But a trip to the vet revealed some sort of infection. Since finishing his AB, he has been fluffy and dry underneath. he was still eating and well in himself, maybe if the problem persists, try taking a urine sample to the vet ( its cheaper to do this yourself, and less stressful for your piggy) . Hope all works out for you xx:)

Thanks, JellyBelly

I'll try this when I get home. She's an inbetween haired, but it does get long around her bottom. She's just a mucky miss I reckon!

I have 4 boars. 3 are always pristinely clean, but the one I rescued, always sits in his own mess and constantly has a slighly mucky bum. I just do my best to keep him clean.

Have you thought of a different bedding like Megazorb, Carefresh?
I used to keep my long hairs clipped so the coat was a couple of cm of the ground and the bottom was shaven in a triangle(point of triangle was the grease gland) with human clippers, didnt tell Nathan, lol!
