Strange day today as took my youngest boar Keith on the train to keighley. He has gone on a bonding holiday to the rescue where he came from and will stay for a while to hopefully find a new mate. He coped pretty well with train travel - he didn't like the loud announcements at Leeds but then I can understand that!
He came to me as a boar date for Tea Cake when he was just six weeks old but sadly that did not work out as when Keith got bigger and challenged for the top spot. He is a little tinker but a great character so please send good bonding vibes to Keith. The rescue is being very supportive to help me find a solution for my boys. Come on lad - get bonding.

Best of luck for Keith! I am sure that Jo will do her best to find a friend that Keith likes!

PS: Noisy stations are the most difficult part for travelling on the train with piggies. I am always grateful if I don't have to change!

Just had an update from the rescue and day 1 of bonding not gone v well. Keith met boy 1 and they had to be separated after 10 mins. Lots of aggression from both. Keith is a fully on stroppy teenager so this may be a bit of a challenge.....Fingers crossed for the next boy!

Oh dear - keep persevering. My Mum has a saying - "there's a lid for every saucepan". Hopefully, there will be an ideal partner for Keith there. I will be very interested in how Keith gets on as I have just contacted this rescue in the hope they can help me with pairing my boars (recently neutered) with a sow each so I am relieved to hear they are being very supportive.
Good bonding vibes from me.

Umm. Keith is not listening to you all and boy 2 date has also failed. Took a bit longer to be a no go but Keith was just too boisterous. So everything crossed for boy 3...... Teenage boys eh?

Fingers firmly crossed! Keith is at the most difficult age for bonding...

Well dates with boys 3, 4 and 5 were also unsuccessful so sadly Keith is coming home alone. What a tinker.

Time for a rethink.

Hope no-one reading this is put off boar dating though - boar dating is great and has worked for several of my boys it is just that Keith is particularly strong willed, hormonal and 7 months old! Thank you to the rescue for trying so hard with him this week.

Poor Keith, he must be a feisty one! Maybe a lady friend would be the way to go for him? Boar dating is wonderful but some pigs just don't wanna play....

" Ah, ha foolish humans - you may try to bond me with various piggies but understand this - I share my lettuce with NO ONE"

A message from Keith - back home for a few days and totally unaffected by his unsuccessful bonding trip. Wheeking his head off as usual and causing mischief. Cheeky chap.

So new tack, Tea Cake has gone off for his turn at bonding at Keighley. And he is not bonding that well either yet:mal: but it is still early days. Keith is smug at home, eating his veggies....
