He had the pre op check at 8.30, surgery at 12 and was home by 3. I was really worried at first as he didn't want to eat. I fed him every 30 minutes for a few hours and then he suddenly got out of bed and went to eat his nuggets. He's eating like normal now - hay, veggies, nuggets and water. There's a check up on Friday and he has some more antibiotics then. Is there anything I should look out for over the next few days? I've put him on white vetbed and I have a load of white towels and fleeces so he can have fresh bedding several times a day. I've also brought lots of bell peppers, spinach and parsley for some extra vitamin C. Also, he had a metacam injection at the vets but he didn't come home with any pain relief. Will the injection be enough?

The most important thing is that he's eating and drinking, also keep a watch on his output, poops & wee. Sounds like he's doing fine though.. xx

I've been fostering boars just before neutering & for the month or so afterwards. The most important thing to look out for is a hernia near the op area. They're not common but if a lump appears get in touch with vet asap.

Kenny is doing great. He won't sleep on towels or fleece though, only vetbed. I took yesterdays vetbed away this morning and he was wondering round the cage, looking at his beds. As soon as he saw me relining the bed, he came over and sat next to me. He hopped back in and was stretched out on the fresh vetbed straight away. Not a problem as I have a huge roll cut up and ready for him. He had a normal breakfast and ate some dry food too. His first check up is tomorrow but looks like everything is fine!

Sorry, I missed this! How is Kenny doing?

He's fine, we just came back from his first check up and the nurse said he is doing fine. Everything is healing well. He had another injection of antibiotics today and then he has to go back for a 10 day check next week. I know he's better as he did some rearranging in the cage this morning - his nuggets were all over the floor, he had shuffled his pigloo around the cage and pulled the hayrack off the bars.

Just weigh him daily and keep an eye out for any swellings for the next few weeks (hernies or abscesses). See your vet asap if your boy suddenly loses weight and appetite. Hopefully, he will continue to recover well and have a great life as a very happy "husboar"!

The vet couldn't believe how friendly Kenny is. At the check before surgery, he had to lay on his back. He just lay in my arms, cooing away, totally relaxed. He let the vet check his claws (to see if they needed clipping during surgery) and examine him. He was trying to stand up and give the nurse kisses today, I think he enjoys all the attention!

Aww he is totally adorable.

Yep, he will be moving in with Bella and Peaches in six weeks. Bella is so much bigger than him and a stroppy girl so I hope they get on! How soon can he start having floortime again? I read that he should rest after surgery and not get too excited/run around. He was waiting to be let out of the cage this morning, I think he's bored after three days of being in the cage.
