Laura-CCC4
Senior Guinea Pig
Kingslie has a lady friend. He's bided his time so well bless him. He arrived here on 7 May from Sophie, I hoped he and Saffron would be friends as Saffron has taken against all sows, the only hope for companionship for her was a man of her own. I had Kingslie neutered on 16 June and his Big Wedding to Saffron took place on 27 July, but he was jilted at the altar! (Or to be more accurate, attacked at the altar).
Since then he and Saffron were living as they had been before, getting along fine through the cage bars but Saffron attacked him whenever they met. I tried Kingslie in with Delilah & Sophia, but that caused trouble between the girls. I tried Willa with him, but she was all defensive and untrustworthy too. Poor Kingslie was destined for a life alone!
Things changed a couple of days ago however. On 12 August I awoke to find Peggy had passed away during the night. Peggy had been living with another poorly piggie, a 4.5yr old sow called Nooshi. Nooshi is a permanent boarder here, effectively another HG but her previous owner still supports her, despite Nooshi more tha likely staying here for the rest of her days. I figured it wouldn't hurt to try pairing Nooshi up with Kingslie. It was a bit of a risk as Nooshi isn't 100% well, and Kingslie is a young, strong chap, but both were single so I decided it was worth a try.
It paid off! Nooshi and Kingslie are getting along very well, Kingslie lets Noosh snuggle up to him when she wants to, and Kingslie is introducing Nooshi to a more 'normal' life again - she's shown some interest in drinking from the bottle by herself and keeps going into the hay and munching (although I am not convinced she is eating as yet!).
A happy ending all around, and some joy has come from the sadness of Peggy's passing. Saffron is now living next to the group of 5 she used to live with. Still can't trust her with anypig but she seems perfectly content to live alone, neighbouring other guineas.
