Kingslie has a lady friend. He's bided his time so well bless him. He arrived here on 7 May from Sophie, I hoped he and Saffron would be friends as Saffron has taken against all sows, the only hope for companionship for her was a man of her own. I had Kingslie neutered on 16 June and his Big Wedding to Saffron took place on 27 July, but he was jilted at the altar! (Or to be more accurate, attacked at the altar).

Since then he and Saffron were living as they had been before, getting along fine through the cage bars but Saffron attacked him whenever they met. I tried Kingslie in with Delilah & Sophia, but that caused trouble between the girls. I tried Willa with him, but she was all defensive and untrustworthy too. Poor Kingslie was destined for a life alone!

Things changed a couple of days ago however. On 12 August I awoke to find Peggy had passed away during the night. Peggy had been living with another poorly piggie, a 4.5yr old sow called Nooshi. Nooshi is a permanent boarder here, effectively another HG but her previous owner still supports her, despite Nooshi more tha likely staying here for the rest of her days. I figured it wouldn't hurt to try pairing Nooshi up with Kingslie. It was a bit of a risk as Nooshi isn't 100% well, and Kingslie is a young, strong chap, but both were single so I decided it was worth a try.

It paid off! Nooshi and Kingslie are getting along very well, Kingslie lets Noosh snuggle up to him when she wants to, and Kingslie is introducing Nooshi to a more 'normal' life again - she's shown some interest in drinking from the bottle by herself and keeps going into the hay and munching (although I am not convinced she is eating as yet!).

A happy ending all around, and some joy has come from the sadness of Peggy's passing. Saffron is now living next to the group of 5 she used to live with. Still can't trust her with anypig but she seems perfectly content to live alone, neighbouring other guineas.

I tried to add a pic of Nooshi on her own in the previous post but it didn't work, here it is;

I'm so happy for both of them, Nooshi needed a friend after losing Peggy, and Kingslie just deserves a good lady friend who won't attack him!

The lilac fluffiness is one of the teddies. Nooshi's one of those pigs who has to throw the teddy around and then parks hersef underneath it. rolleyes

AWWW - congratulations to the happy couple! They look very sweet together indeed! I hope that Kingslie will bring out Nooshi.

I must admit I was wondering whether you'd try or whether Nooshi was to unwell for Kinsglie. Not every older lady appreciates a young man, but when do... x)x)x)

They look like they are made for each other, I see it as the other piggies 'match-making' :)
I want to find some cuddlies for my two, is there safety things I need to look for?

Aw, bless - that's fantastic news Laura.

I'm dreading getting Toby neutered and bonding him with my 2 girls. I've never had to bond guinea pigs before. Going to get Toby booked in for a couple of weeks time when I'm on holiday - I need to think about building my c&c cage then too. They have been getting on fabulously through the bars but like you have proven, that doesn't mean a thing.

Thanks everyone, they are still very happy together. Nooshi is a snuggly piggie, she likes to physically cuddle up against another pig. Now Kingslie's hormones have died right down (not that they were very evident anyway!) he lets her cling onto him most of the time.

I am just hoping he will teach her how to eat solid food again. She's become reliant on syringe-feeding, has been for about 3 months as far as I know. More a case of won't eat than can't eat for most of that time. She is showing some interest in some solid foods now but typically she had dental work done on Wednesday and can't eat for herself just yet. mallethead Hopefully she will keep on trying, her teeth are nearly the right length!

It's lovely to see Kingslie all loved up, and a relief to see Nooshi happily settled with him after she had been so attached to Peggy. I'll get some more pics tomorrow and add them to the thread. :)
