If a guinea pig licks you (on the chin or neck) while you're rubbing her most favourite places, is this how they give kisses? One of my girls has recently started doing this during cuddle time (anytime, but especially after I rub her chin for her). Just wondered if it's a sign of affection?

My Basil did this and I loved it, and I always thought of it as him kissing me.

mine lick my nose and cheek, well all but my pheobe, she just bites my nose! lol

Isnt a guinea kiss the most wonderful thing. My boar has just started licking my face, however a sow that I had used to lick me constantly. Its probably not very hygenic (for us or the piggy) hower it is adoreable.

If I am sad and crying Riffy licks up the tears. I have tried to explain that this can't be good but Riff doesn't listen and moves into a better position for licking.

My Malcolm is also v good at licking up tears.

And they all lick a lot when I've been to the gym!
I think it's the salty taste.

my piggie doesnt kiss but i have a love bird who does this, then he bites lol

When my friend came round to meet george he was giving her loads of kisses and I was like he never kisses me! She pointed out though that she had swetty hands and he was just licking the salt. I have very cold hands so that was probably the answer but I still felt slightly gellious :))

I know the feeling - my late Mischief licked my mother instantly, but it took me two years to get her to lick me!

However, my newcomer Olwen is a licker. I'm ever so tickled (in every sense)! If only she could stand looking at my other two guinea pigs without gnashing her teeth...
But it's still very early days, and she has unbend enough to bear staying in the same room with them.

sorry to disillusion you but they are licking the salt off your hands. They would not do this if they did not feel comfortable on you.

I would like to state that although they do this they should not be given a salt lick.

guinea kisses are sooo cute. Lu gives them near bed time with her last cuddle before she is tucked up, she pops out of her snug licks my chin all over then runs back in. soooooo cute xoxoxoxo

Yes my Brownie likes to give kisses to just about everyone. One time I was kneeling down cleaning their cage, and didn't have any socks on, and he licked my big toe! That was really ticklish!

I too like to think licking is guinea kisses! xx>>> My older baors don't kiss me, although Legolas did occasionally as a baby. However, my baby Bobby (about 11 weeks old) has become a bit of a 'breast man'! If I have him on my chest, with or without his baby brother Bobby, he will suddenly start 'kissing' & gently nipping my chest! It's funny as although he will gently nip fingers, he never 'kisses' me anywhere else! x>>

My other piggies will 'kiss' me in a different way. I hold them so they are facing me & ask for a kiss. they then lift their heads up to touch my nose or chin (depending upon how I am holding them). Sometimes I get one kiss, other days I get loads & loads & loads! xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>

Thank goodness for guinea loving, especially after a crappy day or when the world is annoying you! x)x)

Well, whether it's true or not, I'm going to choose to believe she's kissing me, especially since it's part of her asking to have her chin rubbed. I'll be rubbing it gently, then I'll stop, and she'll give me kisses, then lift her chin and turn it slightly to the side so I'll rub it some more.
