I feel sick. I've just checked Laceys hair and she has moving lice it has made me feel so ill. Now I presume her two new friends are the harbouring ones. As obviously I was not aware of this I have been handling the others so could have transferred them to my other three also. I've just ordered some lice and easy and am going to bath everyone now with the shampoo I have. Is this something that needs vet treatment or will it be okay with just the shampoo. I have also got some bugs be gone so whilst I'm waiting for the shampoo I am going to wash them in other shampoo and use the bugs be gone.

I dunno what to do about my baby girl as

She is less than 12 weeks but she may have escaped it anyway. I'm gonna do her with the mini shampoo. Can anyone tell me where lice comes from?

Just checked everyone can't find any lice on any others. I washed my hands in between and changed my clothes to I'm going to vets to be safe. Mrs mouse from another cage seems itchy

Mrs mouse is going to have to go too i think with her cage mate baby Sophie.this is not going to be fun

Woops I gave you the wrong link but check that site for more information.

Whichever kind chances are its going to be fairly straightforward to fix, but you will likely require a vet visit especially if you dont know that kind it is and arent sure how to treat it, over the counter ivermectin for example is not really strong enough to the job so its better to get it from the vet if that is the required course of treatment for example x

Yes I've got an appointment for lacey at 3 today. Fab service as usual. I dunno whether to take all 6 with me as I am suspicious that one of my other pigs from another cage has it too as she has dandruff. I could see the lice they were like wiggly things so presume moving lice no actual lice spotted on others but a few are itchy. My only issue is 6 pigs equals 3 carriers and there is only one of me. I've checked my boy and he seems fine so might just take my 5 girlie's. Do they come from hay? If so they all could have them.

Hay mites come from hay but you cannot see them moving. Maybe somebody could help you carry one of the carriers. I think it is best they are all seen.

They are definitely the moving kind wriggling things I cant eat my lunch now as I feel so sick. I rang the place I got them from and told them to check all their pets. They said they treat all their guineas when they come in as a precaution? they are going to check and call me back. I only have two carriers so now I'm going to have to pop and buy some quickly.

Hay mites, lice, fungal everything can potentially be brought in by hay or bedding sadly, but its usually no reflection on the owner when their pigs come down with one them :-) I am currently treating hay mites in my lot right now (thanks hay). I agree with taking them all if possible x

Got extra carry case now so off to vets as gonna be late.with was hoping this type of thing was only caused by other guineas so I could blame where they came from and make them pay my vet bill lol

Finally back from vets positive diagnosis of lice. They treated all six. They said it would be the other guineas who brought the lice with them.

I have to now find some decent disinfectant to do my cages as not sure how strong the one I have is. Time to hit the Internet

Hope my shampoo comes soon I really can't leave them with critters on them it's gross. It's really upsetting me. Can someone help me re medication and bathing. Can I bath them tomorrow as they had injections today not provide on or should I wait for the lice and easy to arrive?

F10 is the best discinfectant.

Best to leave at least 24 hours, ideally 48 hours between Ivermectin injections and baths and also best to patch test for 48 hours too. I tend to use Lyclear Creme rinse.

My vet said I could bath straight away? I will leave it for another day to be safe though. I've got lots of gorgeous guineas shampoos but am waiting on my lice and easy. I was going to do an interim bath with another shampoo, I have some Christmas shampoo which will make them smell yummy in meantime and I'm hopin it'll wash some of the now dead ones off
