All i can say is that i have two boys who i bonded in October 2008 and they get on fine together. They are happy to share bowls etc even though there is two of everything and they sleep close to each other but they dont like to cuddle each other.
They love cuddles from their mummy and have great personalities. They are quite laid back and Joey who is the shy one has come out of his shell more since Gizmo has been around, most probable because he is VERY cheeky.
They have both learnt that if they hear the fridge opening or a bag rustling that food maybe on his way and they both put their paws up onto the cage to look out and wheek for food.

Ive never had piggys before and these two are my first but i would get males again in the future. :))

But I'm sure the same can be said about females? I know that females can be kept in larger groups but males prefer to be kept in two's.

It depends on the character combination - you can have very devoted pairs in each gender!

Having a cross gender pairing (neutered male with female(s)) is actually probably the most stable relationship, because dominance is not a major part of it. Just to throw in a bit of confusion! :))

I have 2 female babies who seem to be getting on very well even though Fudge keeps humping Cuddles at the moment :))

They usually snuggle up together at night it's so cute!

I did mean socially. When we were looking for a new partner for our male bunny (who has had the chop) we took him on RSPCA blind date. It was amazing to watch. Put anyother male near him and it was fisticuffs at dawn but as soon as we put a female with him he licked her ears. Love at first sight really x)

I have to say, the lady at the RSPCA in Altham was fantastic.

I have three girls and have not had any grumbling from them at all (even when we added the littlest to the original pair a few weeks ago). I believe that boys can occassionally have a spat or two as they get to the 'teenage' stage, however many people here have very happy pairs of boys.

It all really depends on the character of the indviduals I think ;) and you own personal preference

My favourite grouping situation is one neutered boar with one or more sows, without a doubt. I have had some good sow friendships, and my two boys that live together and inseparable, they get on so well.

It's pretty much all down to personality.

I have two boys as that is what the pet shop had at the time as they said they didn't have any females due in but said they would be ok until as Little Piggles says the "teenage stage" they started to have wee domestics but they do love each other I am quite sure as as when you take one out of the cage the other one starts whistling and chewing the bars which I think is more that they think the other is getting something that theyre not :(|)

I have a girl who would not have been a very nice friend to one other girl. What made it wok is my neutered boy. So I think both boy groups and girl groups can have issues and the most stable ones are those with one boy and one or more girls.

"My" rescue says that if you know you can only have two -get boys, because they tend to be more social and cuddly with people. It's also a good way of keeping the number to two because while boys CAN work in trios or more it's not common and maybe not for beginners. When you have a neutered boy and girls it's easy just to add on, space permitting...
