Our female is really drinking far more than normal in the past week or so. The weather is not particularly warm and no warmer than it has been when she was drinking less.

I just wondered if there is anything to worry about that could be the cause of the excessive drinking. She's at the water bottle about triple or more her usual visits and she drinks for ages!

thanks

Id have her checked by the vets tomorrow, excessive drinking can be due to a number of things- pain, stress, UTI, kidney issues, diabetes.. Or simply behavioural.

Take a urine sample along with u tomorrow, one less thing to do at the vets. If she lets you know when she needs to wee, keep her on your lap until she signals- have a clean dish or deep jar lid to hand. Pop her in her cage and be prepared to slip it under her bum when she squats, and sook it up with a sterile syringe or an airtight container if u dont have a syringe. The fresher the better, pop it into the fridge if theres a gap before the visit.

Good luck x

Firstly, check the bottle to see whether the nozzle is blocked.
If worried see your vet. With increased drinking, it won't be a problem for him to express fresh pee for accurate test results. Older pee samples can deliver misleading results. I no longer recommend them after a vet has made me aware that there can be problems.

Vet did not find anything to worry about. Could be stress as she is very jittery and our neighbors have been unbelievably loud recently with renovations.
Water bottle was not blocked as it went down and there was bubbles as she drinks.
