I had Fred out for some lap time last I noticed when I stroke his side he pulls it away and then turns round so its hidden and it can't be stroked! Do you think there is something wrong or he just doesn't like being stroked there? He doesn't squeak or anything but he does make it clear you aren't stroking him there by scrunching up so you can't! He doesn't seem to mind being stroked anywere else? Do you think there could be something wrong? :...
 
Most guinea pigs don't like having their bellies, lower neck and lower sides touched. Very normal indeed!

Where do they like to be touched? (sorry for sounding ruuude! :)) )

If he jumps, he may be sore from scratching or something. Can you feel a lump or anything?
 
No I think Wiebke is onto something I think he generally doesn't like me stroking there :)p.

I got him from a rescue, so he had been checked over and was perfectly healthy :))

It depends on the cavy really, my George likes to be scratched under his chin, he'll even lift up his head as high as he can.

My Charlie like to be scratched gently on his head.

You just have to find your particular cavies spot -c

I tickled Toffees belly last night, he didn't seem to mind.

I usually stroke their rosettes but I will try the chins tonight! :(|)
 
:)p He does lift his head up he has such a wee personality really... When hes out for exercise he likes to hide and I put some veggie down for him.

He doesn't like you too see him going for them so when I turn my back he starts running and hiding lol.. Only down fall for him is when he runs he squeaks! I sometimes wonder if he's trying to find a wee friend?!
 
No, young guinea pigs always squeak when they are on the move - it's too keep the group in the deep grass together and informed that all members are OK; the youngest piggies are the most vulnerable, so they are proper chatterboxes. Having hm chattering away means that he is really relaxed and at home with you!

Some guinea pigs like having their belleis scratched - most don't. Good places are under the chin, the bald spot on top of the head, behind the ears or just down the back along the spine. each piggy has their own preferences.
 
All my piggies do it when they move around the living room - it's certainly lively with five of them roaming!
