Can anyone tell me if this has happened to them please? Many years ago I had 2 brothers (I was told they were brothers but one was huge so I presumed they were from different litters). The large boar had the biggest pair I've ever seen on his back end, but he was always trying to mount his brother and would often rub his bottom along the grass (when he was in his pen outside). I've had other boars but they were never like him.?!

not too sure , but I think it’s probably signs of affection or wanting attention.
Nothing to worry about

Hormone levels in guinea pigs can vary quite a lot. Your boy was likely at the upper end in terms of testosterone, dominance and territory marking with his scent gland. Some boys have truly massive treasure chests and other boars will rarely ever mount even when living with sows (neutered of course, but that doesn't change their behaviour).

They can still be brothers although if they are bought from a shop chain, that may not necessarily be the case. Lots of shop personnel will tell that to any customers who still believe in the old myth that brothers don't fall out (they can jsut any other boars).

Thank you both for your replies. I got them off Facebook. A lady told me her children were no longer interested in them so she gave them to me. Got to say I was so angry but on the other hand, glad I found them. Xx

Too many piggies are bought for children as a one off wonder and the kids soon get bored. It's such a shame! I blame the pet shops.

This is a great example and is copied direct from the P@H website:-

Guinea pigs can make great pets for kids, as they can grow up together and teach your kids important things like caring for others.

Are guinea pigs good with kids?
Yes, guinea pigs can be great pets for children, although they may not appreciate being around noise as they have quite sensitive hearing. If you have older children then they may enjoy helping out with caring for your pet, and getting involved with things like training and teaching your guinea pig some tricks.
