Hi I have a rescue piggy. I've had him for about 3 years now. He has had a bad scabby rash before that the vet said he was allergic to the bedding since then we use towels, blanket, and paper bedding. In the last few weeks he has developed a lump and it's growing and growing. Now it has a scab on it. I'm worried about it because of how fast it's progressing.
How do I upload a photo?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear about your piggy. That lump does look nasty :( I'm afraid I have little advice on what it could be but I suggest you get a second opinion from another vet asap as that lump could be painful.

I have enlarged the photo for you and someone more knowledgable will hopefully be more helpful in the morning when they all wake up

If he were mine I'd find a guinea pig specialist vet and get a second opinion as you never can tell with lumps. It could possibly be something that's not harming him or causing pain but as it's growing so quickly I wouldn't want to leave it.

I had a pig with a cyst on his side once. It was tested and it wasn't anything nasty and it didn't bother him. It grew really slowly so we left it alone.

But it got to a point where it was going to start limiting his movement and he could possibly bump it on the cage and damage it. We then had it surgically removed.

Pigs don't have a lot of skin so it's best to have things removed when it's not going ro be a hard job for the vet to close the wound.

Tl;dr - He needs to be seen by a guine pig specialist vet to see if it's something that needs to be removed.

Hi!

That does look like a nasty lump and he will definately need to see a vet for a diagnosis.
