Junior Guinea Pig
After finding that it had changed and was scabby i took my piggy to the vets today, the nurse was unsure on if it was infected because it looked odd so called the vet into the room who was fantastic and explained that what we could see was the contents, so off he went & squeezed it all out !

>>>. Not nice at all but she was very brave and i managed to keep hold of her somehow lol
its a creamy gritty contents that his was showing other nurses with his fingers:x it wasnt infected or anything nasty , the cyst had just been caught or nibbled somehow :{.
So the vet then explained that it needs to be cleaned 2or3 times daily with warm salt water and squeezed slightly, no meds as of yet. Just gotta see how it heals. Then its a case of how quickly it comes back and the option of surgery but weighing up the risks.
Because its 'open' ive bought her inside in an indoor cage with minimal shavings, because the nurse explained about flies laying eggs so i dont want her in my shed because altho i have fly nets i cant be 100% sure. Id love to have her on fleece/towels but she eats them rolleyes
SOOooo please can anyone see a problem/issue with anything the vets said or offer any advice on cleaning it or helping it heal?
Should she have any potions or anything ?
thanks x
