Junior Guinea Pig
I have never really made a post about Floss, so I'm going to now.
Back in 2011 I rescued Scruff and Floss from my local rescue. Floss was Scruff's aunt, and although she seemed rather annoying to Scruff, they had a very close bond. She was really quite a lazy guinea pig, and quite dim too, but nonetheless very loveable. I remember the time when Floss suddenly turned around with a massive carrot in her mouth and whacked Scruff in the face! I feel bad for laughing but it was very amusing. A few years later, I adopted 2 more piggies; Peep and Cookie. They were young at the time so I tried to introduce everyone. Immediately the 2 little pigs took to Floss and followed her around everywhere which I can imagine would be quite irritating! I think Floss liked to be alone as she would always be far away from anyone else if she could. She looked absolutely ridiculous when she rumblestrutted though! There was also this time when she was chasing Peep and Peep squeezed through a gap and Floss tried to chase her through but she got stuck so we had to help her out which was very funny. All the piggies were happy living together, although they only went in the run together as at the same I didn't have a big enough cage so they slept separately. Sadly Floss went downhill very quickly. She developed a severe lung disease of some sort and had to be rushed to the vet. I honestly regret taking her there because the vet, who obviously did not understand guinea pigs, went and shoved a thermometer up Floss' backside and she was just getting so stressed. It pained me so much to see her scrambling for dear life and then just lying there with her legs out behind her. I thought she was going to die there and then, but she didn't, she soldiered on. I was given some antibiotics to help her condition, but she was too poorly by this stage. My mum fed her antibiotics for quite a while but she couldn't really open her mouth so not much went in. Her head was really droopy and just lying on my mum's lap and we knew then that she wasn't going to make it through the night. Sadly that morning we found that she had passed. It was to be expected so it wasn't as painful as randomly finding her like that. But she died under her beloved hay basket and stained with vegetable juice and with her friend, Scruff, beside her. We buried her in a forest by a holly tree. Sadly that area has now been blocked off by the government which is a real shame.
Rest in peace Floss, you were a wonderful little piggy. <3
