Junior Guinea Pig
Well, I received a phone call today, from the woman who used to own our guinea pigs! I'd been chatting to a local dogwalker I know yesterday and mentioned that we now had a couple of piggies. 'Oh, it was YOU who found Joan's guineapigs, was it?' she exclaimed. She's a friend of Joan's and knows Roly and Jujube. Has clipped their claws, in fact. (She also does grooming. And, apparently, used to breed guineapigs... Often took them back, too, when kids got fed up with them...
) I said I thought it was strange that Joan hadn't been in touch with me and that if I'd lost a couple of pets I would be in contact right away with the person who'd found them...
Anyway, she passed on my remarks to Joan, who phoned me this afternoon. She sounded genuine, actually, and said that if we were happy to have R and J (formerly Bubble and Squeak...) then she was happy for me to have them. She said she thought they were being looked after much better by us than they were at her house, where the girls were losing interest (though the younger one cried for a while for Jujube - OK now, though...)
So that's them officially ours! Financially, it's just as well, as I've spent a small fortune on them and only today some more C&C arrived for Johnny and me to make them a bigger pen, off the floor. (I'll send pics when it's done!) And emotionally, well we're all very fond of the wee fellows.
And they seem to be warming to us. The new pen will have an armchair beside it so we can have them on our knees more easily...
