I was hoping not to bring this thread back up so blimmin' soon.
I got over one problem already since we lost the two poorly girls. Meghan bit Willa on the eye a day after they arrived here, leaving Willa's eye cloudy, bloodshot and sore with a noticeable 'scratch' on the eye. First eye problem I have had to deal with. Luckily that cleared up very quickly with the use of Optrex Infected Eyes chloramphenicol drops, and no need to see a vet/Vedra at all.
Now there is something not quite right with Jasmine. Two days ago (Jan 20th) she had trouble walking. She was bunny-hopping her back legs, but sometimes walking normally albeit within a very limited range (more like waddling I guess). I gave her a dose of Metacam after examining her, finding nothing, so I was thinking she may have hurt herself the night before (Jan 19th), as she had been chased by Meghan. (Yes Meg is something of a devil pig, hence why she no longer lives with Willa and Jas). Jasmine was also sensitive to touch around the inside of her back legs a day prior to this (Jan 18th), but again no injury found.
Yesterday she was back to normal, but today she has slowly progressed to bunny hopping and restricted hind leg/hip movement again. Something I have noticed also today is that her poops are very small and there aren't very many, despite her average appetite. The poops are very moist though, not at all dry. Could the two problems be related? Is it reasonable to think that a digestive condition could also cause the difficulties in moving?
She has what appear to be intermittent UTIs (only symptom is squeaking when peeing/pooping, but she does this only maybe three times a day - so not with every pee/poop - and it only flares up once every few weeks), but these UTIs don't clear up for long. She was xrayed for stones a year ago and was clear, but I will get her xrayed again soon to check again.
She has been known to have a creamy, white-ish substance on her poops, though this hasn't happened for quite a while, and for the past year or so she has had occasional small amounts of mucus-y gloopy stuff sticking to her poops. Is lack of fluids (not dehydration..just not quite enough fluids) a possiblity?
Other than this, she is eating and drinking fine, seems happy and not in pain. Obviously if she needs a vet/Vedra, she will go straight away. But having just paid for two £90 cremations, and with a vets bill of £110 for Tuppy's two emergency visits yet to pay, plus a house move coming up, things aren't so good financially. :...
