Hi, I'm probably being paranoid but I haven't owned a guinea pig in many years and I've only had my Pumpkin for a few months so I'm still slowly learning her qwerks.
Normally she doesn't leave her little house for anything other than food, water, or hay. Or to use the bathroom. Right now she is laying in the corner right next to her water bottle where she usually uses the bathroom.
I'm probably overreacting. I tend to do that. She's still drinking and eating, so could this just mean she's getting more comfortable with me? Or is it possible something is wrong?

Awe cute pig!

She’s probably just warming up to you! My Gizmo is the most social pig but sometimes he just wants to hide. Vice versa

Thank you so much for responding. I like to think I'm taking good care of her but it's always nice to have a second opinion.
Can you tell from the picture how old she is? I chose her (or rather she chose me) at the store in December. They said they had her since around Thanksgiving (partially where her name comes from) so I know she is at least 4 months, but I'm not sure how old she was before arriving at the store. Just curiosity on my part, I would like to know so I can pick a birthday of sorts.
Do you have any other advice for me as a fairly inexperienced piggy owner?

Aww, what a cute piggy! Welcome to the forum! I think you're doing well! I don't see anything that could be wrong it that picture. She seems to be very young less than a year maybe 6 or 7 months at most.
A few other tips would be...
Guinea Pigs like to run around so you might need to get a bigger cage! The minimum is 7.5 for one piggy and 10.5 for another. Otherwise, you are doing amazing!

There is lots of useful information here - look for the 'new owners problem solver and information collection' which is in the new and wannabe Guinea pig owners corner.

Pumpkin looks very sweet

A new cage is definitely on my list, I just can't afford one right now. She likes running laps and I feel sad that she has to trip over her house in order to do so. Thank you!

Do you take her out for floor time? She'll enjoy that!

I was in the same situation when I got Peanut, she was growing too fast! I think she is done growing. Kiko isn't, she is still a baby like Pumpkin! Good luck to you! Hopefully, tonight is a lucky night, its the first night I am removing the divider from Kiko's and Peanut's cage and let them be together. <3

I'm actually working on building a play area for her. The last time I let her run around on the floor I didn't baby proof things well enough and she ended up inside recliners. Right now the only real place she has to explore is my bed, but I sit on the bed with her and for some reason she has this obsession with coming right up next to me and peeing on me. I'm allergic to it so have to find ways around it. Good luck to you! Sounds like things are about to get interesting for you!

Oh, that's not good. Hopefully, things get better! Thank you, I'm nervous though, there is a huge size difference between Peanut and Kiko. As you can see below!

Oh man I wish I could spoil her like you've spoiled your piggies. And yeah, I'm definitely getting her a friend in the future, but for now the new cage and play area is my priority.

Spoil!? Wow, that's nothing! I really want to build them a second level! Or even a loft! The cage is too small! In my opinion! :D

We got my three at the same time that was because I was absolutely obsessed with every bit of knowledge I could get before I got done I was pretty sure my parents ready to strangle me

I know how you feel! I am always finding new things about piggies and telling my mum and she honestly could care less. XD

Hello and welcome.
You have a gorgeous piggy.
You will find that Pumpkin will frequently change her mind about where her favourite place to lie is.
Same with food - yesterday’s reject is today’s favourite.
Looking forward to more pics

Awww she is a bit like my Rose seen here on the left with her darling Caramel (fluffy neutered boar)

Amber she's bored, that friend needs to come now. You sound like an excellent piggy slave, but imagine if there were the only 2 humans on earth & they don't speak your language. You obviously adore that piggy, but get her a friend sooner than later. Hun

Hi & Welcome to our friendly forum.
I decided to quit putting it off. I'm going to be completely broke until next paycheck, but Pumpkin now has a friend. Can't take any good pictures right now and trying to let her get settled in, but Pumpkin is so happy

dont worry your a not the only non experienced piggie owner i have had my cuties since august of 2017

That's good! But sorry to hear about the financial issue.

What a little cuties Patch is.
Congratulations on you new arrival.
Sorry that finances are so tight - if you are making this kind of sacrifice for Pumpkin’s wellbeing then you are turning into an awesome piggy slave

Patch looks lovely. Good luck with the introductions. Hope all goes well. X
