Any ideas for giving my two girls some more exercise?
They are three years old, have a large cage, and they come out into an indoor run every evening.I have given them lots of tubes and boxes to go through, but they just sit in the run eating hay,or go to sleep under the newspaper.
I can't let them out into the room as there are too many nooks and crannies, not to mention wires they could chew.

bribe them!

you could maybe try leaving a trail of hay and have their favourite treat waiting for them at the end {:| I've only had my guinea pig for one week and to tempt him out of his hidey hole we found melon and dandelion leaves work a treat - once he gets a whiff he just can't resist@)

Mine like to snooze as well... nothing more nicer than a pile of hay and a nest... :))

You could maybe try making them work for their food? With one of mine i make her stretch for her spinach leaves and they have a parsley bell hung from the top of the cage etc...
They are not ones for running around a lot, they tend to have a bit of a popcorn and get back to the eating issue rolleyes:))

When I put my older ones in the run for a few hours, it is like a chore to them. They eat the grass for a while then go back into the little house and lie down again! rolleyes

The older generation, eh? What are they like? :))

my guinea pigs are really lazy also
they're two years old and when they go in the run they just sit there and munch
i think i need to keep an eye on some of the ideas on this thread:red

Thanks for the replies.
Yes,i guess it may be just down to age,but i will try the parsley bell idea,as my girls love parsley.
