Just read some info on the world health organzation site about rodents carrying the LCMV virus. To all you guinea pig breeders and people who are experienced with these, have you had any pigs with this virus? are their any tests you can have done to find out if they have the virus? just wondering, my wife is pregnant and they recommend no contact with rodents including guinea pigs because of this.

Don't know particular about that virus but in regards to animals and human pregnancy it is recommended that the person wears protective gloves during "cleaning" of the animal hutches and also a mask if you are indoors. Cat faeces are of special concern for a pregnant woman.

Just use common sense precautions.
Don't forget to wear a seat belt in the car and mind you don't burn yourself on hot food.
In other words, the risk is so low as to be insignificant compared to the risks involved in everyday activities.
More people are killed/injured in accidents in the home than in road accidents.
