Leaking water bottle

One of the water bottles is leaking and I can't get to the pet store till tomorrow.

It's getting the fleece wet, should I take it out and just have one water bottle tonight?

Have you checked the nozzle for gunk (with a cottonbud)? If your piggies can do with just one bottle, then take the faulty bottle out.

I would recommend that you buy two new bottles so you always have one in reserve from now on.

Also check how tight you are screwing the top on. We had mystery drippy bottles every time I went away, they were fine when I was home. Turned out my partner was tightening the lids up which caused them to drip.

We just had exactly the same!
A month or so of trying to figure out why sometimes the pads under the bottles are soaked- but no obvious drips. Turns out when I change the water bottles everything stays dry, when my OH does it everything is wet!

So the fleece is still wet about five inches by six inches where the bottle leaked. Some of the hay got wet and left a wet powder (hay dust?). I just put the fleece in yesterday, should I change it out?

Or should I try and sop up the dampness with some paper towels? Let it air dry because I have a non leaking bottle in there now.

Glad you fixed the leaky bottle.
I always swap out a damp fleece pad, as soon as I notice it’s wet.
Personally I would give your piggies a dry one, it’s much better for them.

Ok. I guess the powder was dissolved pellets.

Stripe drinks upside down to get more water and it squirts out onto the fleece. It's really annoying. It makes the water level go down quickly and it's a small bottle.

But now have two good bottles.

I use one of these under the (only) bottle that Dignified Sir George uses. He is a nightmare. He is incredibly noisy and manages to dribble much more water out than he drinks I have to empty it twice a day.

I just ordered a pack of five pee pads from guinea dad. I figure I can change it once a day and just hang it to dry without washing it until they get dirty.

I like your idea but I can see Chesney eating plastic.

I saw on here that the Lixit water bottle was good. Is it easy for them to master?

There's a Tractor Supply store a mile from my house I'm thinking of picking one up tomorrow.

It's usually all trial and error with bottles. What works with one lot of piggies doesn't necessarily work with their neighbours.

We still haven't found the perfect bottle for everypig and every cage...

Went and got a Lixit bottle before work and came home and set it up.

Stripe did that thing where he drinks upside down and it didn't squirt all over.

So here's hoping for the best.

I had to change the fleece yesterday before I got the Lixit bottle. It was stressful because I couldn't get Stripe to run in his snuggle sack.

But this is the firs morning the fleece has been dry!
