As you may know I use fleece in my piggies cages. My girls have no problem with me vaccuming out the poop. And up until yesterday I thought Pickle had no porblem either. WELL after a bloody hand later I have learned that pickle doesn't like it soo much. He decided half way threw ( keep in mind I have done it at least 5 other times before and nothing has ever happend) my cleaning of pickles cage he decieded that he didn't like this after all and attacked the vaccum, well I should say he tired to attack the vaccum. He hot my middle finger instead. cage me a cut that starts at the middle of the top of my finger going an inch down the side. there was a lot of blood. I didn't blame him but some warning would have been nice LOL. Now I know that I have to take him out first.

Just thought I would post this so others learn the easy way and not the hard way like me.

Oh dear, I never vacuum my cages without blocking the piggies off first just incase. I either put them in the indoor pen or block off the hay run thats in their cage while I spot clean the rest of it then switch sides. Hope your finger is ok :)

LOL, I am lucky that after a few years of doing this none of mine have any negative inclincations towards me or the hoover! Half of mine popcorn around me as I hoover.

Hope your finger gets better soon! I know how much it hurts.

I use fleece as well but how the heck do you vacuum it? Every time I try the fleece annoyingly gets sucked up and pulls away from the sides of the c&c cage making it very disheveled!

I put two fingers over the hose, that way it doesn't pull anything up but poop because they go in between my fingers. After I give my hands a good washing.

Maybe take your little ones out of the pen/cage or even to another room to wander about so it doesn't continue to freak them out.:)

Its just Pickle, Clover and Lila like to be vaccumed, its really funny. They come up to the hose and wait for me to vaccum them. But like today I'll take Pickle out of his cage.

I pull all the corners up to tip the poops into the middle - the edges are worst for getting sucked up! I also lay the hose flat on it's side (instead of vertical on the fleece) so that there's a gentler suction. A few times I too suck the fleece up the hoover and have a good ol' rant about the "flimsy effing fleece", "stupid soddin hoover"...LOL.
