I'm looking for advice on which leaves - from trees and shrubs and so on - are safe for Guinea Pigs. We have a big Cherry tree, Elder and various shrubs. I give them fresh leaves from the Hawthorn and they seem happy with that and they love Marjoram leaves and Golden Thyme but are less keen on Mint and Sage. Are woodland trees - Oak, Ash, Beech, Birch, etc. safe and can they have sticks from any of these to chew ? I've been buying sticks - from China ! - in the pet shop but they really can't be bothered with them. Thanks.

hi, Cherry isn't safe for them to eat nor any other trees that bear fruit with stones. I don't think oak is safe either, not sure about the others. Fresh Apple twigs & leaves are safe but I've never found they hold much interest as guineas are grazing animals & not really gnawers like rabbits, rats & chinchillas. Many garden plants are poisonous to guineas too. To keep their teeth in good condition feed lots of hay & grass :)

Mine really enjoy an apple twig and leaves!

I was wondering the same, my rabbit used to enjoy the dry, brown leaves in autumn. Not sure if piggies can enjoy them?

Apple, pear and berry leaves like strawberry and raspberry are safe.
