Hi everybody,
With the holidays approaching I have found out that I am leaving my house this weekend. I don't have anybody to take care of my guinea pigs except for my neighbors but putting this nicely I don't trust them with my babies :luv: What is your advice for leaving guinea pigs? I will be gone for about 30 hours. I know to stock up on hay, fill the water bottle and put in a heaping of veggies and lettuce but do you have any other advice?

Thank you xx

So are you only away over one night? I usually do the hay, a normal portion of veggies, water etc and then do the same when I get home straight away. I wouldn't do heaps of veggies as they will scoff them in one go and you don't want to come home to find they had diarrhoea while you were away as it gets everywhere!

Well we leave early in the morning and come back late at night the next day

Just advice as you may not feel like cutting veggies up when you get home, pre-prepare the "get back home veggies" before you go, so when you get back, your future self will thank you and they can go straight into the cage. 😊

I regularly have to visit an elderly relative over night for a similar amount of time, I fill water bottles, double check they're letting out water, give pellets and their normal amount of veg, then a massive pile of hay and sometimes I'll throw some forage around to give them something to do. They're always absolutely fine :)

At the mo I am often away overnight at the weekends. I leave my piggies loads of hay, the normal daily amount of pellets and some veg. They are fine. If I'm away for 2 nights, I ask my neighbour to pop in.
