Leaving them overnight...

Tonight I am going to a party for my cousin's wedding and I will be staying there overnight. The pigs will obviously not come with us, they will be left here. I'm just wondering what I need to do to make sure they're ok while I'm not here. Ill be going at about 5ish today then coming back late morning tomorrow, so not too long. Obviously they will get lots of hay, food and water anything else?
 
Yep, top up the food dish, fresh water, lots of hay and maybe some fresh veggies before you go? Toys and maybe a treat or two to distract them whilst you're gone? I made sure my lot had fresh bedding etc aswell.

A few months ago we had to go to London so I fed them before bed on the Tuesday and then I was gone the whole of Wednesday from 4 o'clock in the morning to like 11 o'clock at night and they were fine. :)
 
I agree just make sure they have plenty of food, hay and water and feed them as soon as you get back tomorrow :)
 
Yep all of the above. I've done it plenty of times and I think the main thing is extra water bottles and go overboard on the hay. My two pairs will share a bottle so I put in an extra one per pair. And I give them veg and also hides some veg in the hay racks, then leave a pile of hay on the floor them. I leave my heating on the timer as normal for them cos I'm a truely under the thumb piggy slave ;)
 
Whenever I leave mine overnight I just make sure they've had their veggies, plenty of hay so that they'll be okay til I get home, plenty of food and lots of fresh water. My Mum is normally around to check on them but if she's not I will put in an extra pile of hay as a precaution and pile their food a bit lol even though when I get back all they'll have done is run through the hay and make a mess of the food :) They'll be fine!
 
Great! Thanks guys! That's put my mind at rest...mallethead ill make sure they have LOADS of hay etc! Ill also put an extra bottle in for them just in case.. Xx
 
Don't panic, they'll be fine :) It's only a couple of hours different to the time you'd normally spend with them really, because it's night time. They'll probably just sleep :))
 
Oh they will be fine, I often stay at my boyfriends & my boys are left overnight they get their dinner as usual & obv have plenty of water food & hay & when I come back the following morning I'm greeted by 2 excited boys.
It's only an evening, they will be fine xx
 
Surely you weren't gone more than 24 hours?

If your pigs drink more than one bottle dry in what from your post sounds like around 19 hours, I would be quite concerned.

Feeding at 5pm then going to check on them late morning is pretty standard for my lot on a Friday - Saturday and Saturday - Sunday, really nothing to worry about at all.
