Hi all
Please send huge healing vibes to my special old man Lennie. When I got up this morning, he hadn't touched his veg from last night or eaten any of his pellets and he wouldn't eat any breakfast. His chest is very very clicky and his breathing very fast and shallow 8...

My vet is away until tomorrow so I have started him on 0.4ml baytril and I am syringe feeding him. He is nibbling a little hay but thats it :(

Please think of him, I couldn't bear to lose him. I hope this isn't my fault as I bathed him on Sunday, maybe he caught a chill? :(

For a piggy that isn't eating at all, how much CC should I be getting into him in one session? He took 15ml quite well along with some water. Going to give him some more in about 1/2 an hour along with some bip lapis.

Aaaawwwww No ! Sending down some good luck vibes and some Hugs ((HUG))!

Good luck Lennie - Hope you pull through this soon !!:)

And as for giving him that stuff i am know good about that so i am sure someone will help you out xx

Once again Sending Good Luck vibes to hope lennie pulls through

aw I'm sorry to hear about Lennie, lots of fingers and paws crossed here for him.

I cant advise on the medications i'm afraid, i've never used them, there should be someone on here to help soon though.

xxxxx

I think it says on the Critical Care how much g per gramme of bodyweight, I'll check mine tonight (someone on here told me though, you could try searching for critical care on the search?)

If he'll take it I'd get as much down him as possible to keep things moving. Try grass - normally when they won't eat, they'll still tuck in to grass and although there's not much good in it at this time of year, at least it will keep his guts moving!

Have you got bio lapis?

Sophie
x

Thanks Sophie :) Yes I have plenty of bio lapis but only one sachet of CC in, I threw some out a while back as it went passed its sell by date. I have organic baby veg though and I have just ground some of his pellets up. Have ordered some CC and will also pick up some whilst at the vet tomorrow. He isnt interested in anything, tried grass and basil which are his two faves :(

awwwww wishing Lennie a speedy recovery, hope he starts to eat soon x

Let us know what the vets says

There is but Anne is the only one I trust with my piggies. I have some baytril so at least he can get started on that and I will syringe feed him every 2 hours as well. He just took 10ml of mushed up pellets and some bio lapis :)

Vitamin B injections can really help kick-start his appetite - I did this with Sirius, and it had an amazing effect. Sometime you have to ask the vet for this though, they might not suggest it.

Fiona, I'm so sorry to hear this. As someone else said B12 can help. I used this with Dr. Also, what about metatone tonic? I found that helpful with Scarby.

Sending love to you both xx

So very sorry to hear about Lennie Fiona.

I agree with Sophie, I would try to get as much CC down him as you can, maybe try little and often. Organic baby food is also worth a try, can you try blitzing some grass up in a food processor and adding it to the baby food - might tempt him? Got everything crossed for this special little man.

I went out hunting and found some long lush grass and he ate a little of that just now. I am so pleased, I will try him with some more later.

Thanks for your support guys, it means a lot and I am sure most of you know how special this big guy is to me x>>

Sending tons of healing vibes for Lennie, and many hugs to you. It's very distressing when they get sick, and I'll be thinking of him and you.

{HUG} I am so sorry, it's awful when our babies are illmallethead
The worst thing about it is they don't know what's wrong, and it just upsets them. Big hugs to you and kisses to him, healing vibes coming your way and I'm keeping you in my prayers.:0

So sorry to hear that Lennie isn't well.
Sending a big hug for a big guy! xx>>>

Hope all goes well at the vet tomorrow.
How is he doing this evening?

Sending big hugs and positive vibes your way. Lenny has a fantastic piggy mum to help him get through this :-) x

Awww poor wee thing! We all send lots of love (Obama and Gomez and me), please let us know how he is soon! Awwww my heart goes out to Lennie! :...

I'm sorry to hear Lennie is not well.

50cc is about what a pig needs in 24 hours, so he is getting plenty. That will keep him strong enough to fight the problem. If it is a respiratory problem, do ask for a one-off diuetic shot at the vets; this will clear any fluid in the lungs. If there is even a bit of fluid on the chest, it is important to nip it in the bud before it has a chance to build.

And please don't feel it was brought on by you giving him a bath - if you dried him and kept him warm indoors afer his bath, then it's just something that happened. You can never know for sure what causes these things, so don't worry yourself. Just be extra sure he is dry and warm after his next bath - it is all you can do in trying to reduce the chance of a recurrence.

Thank you for your lovely well wishes, Lennie should feel suitably special!

CCC4, is that a diuretic shot you mean? just double checking. Seeing vet at 10.40am. Thank you for your advice and kind words.

I offered him more grass a while ago but no way would he eat any, he isnt even nibbling hay now :( Gave him some organic baby veg via syringe and plenty of bio lapis. Given him a 50g vit C tablet too.

I might see the night shift on here in the wee hours! its going to be a long night.....x

I will be thinking of him too ... and you!

Please let us know how he gets on in the morning.

Oops, sorry - yes I meant diuretic. Usually it is known as Lasix, Dimazon or Frusemide, the dose 0.1-0.2ml injected.

Pigs with respiratory problems find it hard to eat and breathe at the same time, so just keep at what you are doing. All you can do is syringe-feed, offer his favourite foods to tempt his appetite and give water and probiotic until you see the vet. You're doing a great job, I know Lennie will be appreciating all you are doing for him.

All the best for tonight and good luck at the vets tomorrow. x
