So I noticed today that Leo has lost one of his bottom teeth I intantly started to panic because as far as I know guinea's only have three teeth. Now he doesn't seem to be in pain he's a little grumpy like grabbing me by my hair and pulling on clothing which isn't really him, so I guess he could be in pain. There was no blood at all or any kind of sign of him loosing his tooth until I saw it.

Now he chews the bars really bad for attention or when you are bringing food (Obviously not quick enough) Or if he wants out. But at the moment I havent seen him chew the bars at all. He seems to be eating fine with his super fast vacume mouth!

But will he be okay with loosing a tooth?
Is there anything I can do?
He defantly had all of his teeth when I got him...he looks strange like an old man and he's a baby still. lol

Hi, piggies teeth grow constantly, similar to the way our nails grow, so within a few weeks it should have grown back. he may have broken it chewing the bars or damaged it some other way and it broke below the gum line and then fell out. he should manage fine while it is growing back but keep a close eye on him and check his remaining front teeth daily incase his other bottom tooth also snaps, in which case he will need his veggies grating or finely chopping until his teeth grow back.
is he your avatar piggy x)

My Freddie lost one of his top teeth before. He jumped out of the cage when my mum was piggy sitting for me. I nearly had a heart attack when I came back! She hadn't even noticed that his tooth was gone mallethead As long as he's coping okay without it then you don't need to worry. It will grow back. I brought my little fella to the vet because I noticed that he was struggling with his water bottle. The ultrasound showed that his bladder was completely empty. I had to syringe water into him for about a week, and his tooth was fully grown back in less than a month.

Thank you for such fast replies. I am glad that it'll grow back.
Yes he is my Avatar piggie :D

As of now he doesn't seem to be struggling with his water but I still have some unopened syringes from when Zee was sick, so if it comes to that I can do that for him. :)
I hope Freddie is doing well now.

Don't worry it will grow back. Guinea pigs have 20 teeth altogether but you can only really see the pair of upper and lower incisors at the front. Just keep an eye on him to make sure he can still eat ok. You can do a bowl of pellet mush to top him up if he can't eat his pellets or is slow eating his hay, mix in some grated carrot or a little piece of banana for a treat. (pellet mush = pour warm water on some pellets, mash it up and let it cool)
I've had three pigs snap teeth off over the years and they've each needed varying degrees of tlc, George needed me to hold on to his food until he'd got it to his back molars to be able to chew properly so he had some tension, Gerry found thin strips of cucumber easier to pick up than slices and Matilda, well you'd never have known she'd lost a tooth, didn't stop her eating at all!
