Leo’s not eating veggies

Has he been interested when your other piggy's munching? May just take a while I suppose?! I know it's been a while already!
I've never really dealt with it with my pigs, all love their fresh stuff.
Bless him, would have thought all the tastiness would have been hard to resist by now!
Did you get his knotty bits sorted? My OAP Rupert tends to get a bit of a matted bum nowadays as struggles to get round there to clean as well, I'm a piggy hairdresser like I used to be with my old alpaca Sheepy :)
Yup I got it all out! So glad that’s situated with! Leo has been sniffing the food bowl, but once he sees what it is, he’s like “ew, veggies” and runs away.

Both my Finn and Lara eat variety of veggies, which I’m glad about.

I wondered if you tried different types of veggies for your piggy. Mine love baby carrot. Actually, mine eat most veggies I give them, lettuce, cilantro/coriander, parsley, cucumber, celery, sprouts, basil, kale, spinach, dandelion, watermelon, apple, and etc.

Good luck with Leo - my two like most veg but they have their own idiosyncracies. At first I didn't think they liked green beans but then I realised it was because I was chopping them up - they'll only eat a green bean if I give it to them whole. Same with celery - won't touch it chopped up but they'll eat a stick of it. They both love any herbs they get but Stanley suddenly went off dill - but then I noticed he's such a fussy little thing that it was actually that he loves dill bought from Tesco but he won't touch it if it comes from Morrisons! Primrose will just stuff her face whichever shop it's bought from!

Funny how they know where the food comes from! Mine only eat M&S or Sainsbury's veggies. I've tried not giving them anything else when they've come from elsewhere but the food just stays in the cage all day. All 6 boars are the same it's as if there's some kind of signalling system going on.

@Sappyshelly I'm sorry to hear Leo is refusing to eat veggies. I think it's a case of just offering a choice until he gets the idea. When I first had Caspian he wouldn't eat anything but carrot, when he was introduced to baby Red and realised he was supposed to eat other veg he started trying it. He is still a very fussy eater though.

It just sounds like trying to tempt a fussy child. My two are a bit fussy too, Bill is far more adventurous with food then Ted, they both like M&S stuff best. Won’t eat peppers or tomatoes or coriander, we grow them ourselves in summer typical!

I would continue to try to give him veggies and not give up. He will needs veggies for vitamins he needs to keep healthy.

Glad to hear it.
I would keep on giving him veggies and not give up. He will be healthier with having vitamins from veggies.

Well done. Piggies are like toddlers in many ways. If they haven’t been introduced to veggies when small and seen adults eating them they can be very suspicious. I just keep offering veggies. Eventually they will usually eat some. But it has to be said our Ralphie is the fussiest veg eater I have ever had. Even he is starting to some round, though.

So glad Leo's munching some veg now, took a while but you got there!

Same problem with my pair, Rupert likes to take his time but Jessie inhales! It could be worth spreading the veg around the cage rather than in just a bowl so not so easy for Clifford to pinch it all as has to look for it first!

I will try that! Thank you!

My boar Georgie doesn't eat as quickly as my greedy girls. I spread the veggies around the cage but also do tend to hand feed him a few bits as the girls go round the cage hoovering up all the red pepper!

Still worried about Leo’s vitamin c intake. I bought him some oxbow vitamin c tablets and he likes them. I also bought some digestive ones for Clifford. He doesn’t have digestive problems, but he is in his senior years so I Thought a bit of support was good for him. So Clifford is gonna alternate between digestive and vitamin c tablets daily, while Leo gets vitamin c tablets daily and half a digestive one once a week.
