Hi I need advice I've just had a week old lethal guinea pig dumped on my step. I don't mind that as all near me know I'm here for the animals. I need advice though on the best way to look after one it is taking ok to hand feeding but seems to be blind and going in circles. Please help do they have a good quality of life? How do I care for it as it only has the top 2 teeth

I will tag @furryfriends (TEAS) and @Wiebke but they may not be online till later or tomorrow as they're busy at a fundraiser for guinea pigs.

Thank you I'm from Washington ( near Newcastle in england

I was hoping to keep it if it is possible just need to know the care it needs and if it needs a special diet x

You would need a good dental vet, to assess the situation with the teeth. The piggy will need ongoing dental work to correct the issue with the missing incisors, as they don't have the opposing teeth to wear against, as would normally happen. They can do very well but I am worried that you say the piggy isn't eating for him/herself.

She is only a week and the person who it belonged to didn't try so I'm letting it settle and soaking some food to try and start it on a proper diet. But if I find I can't manage its care I will contact yous if that's ok ? But I would like to try first see what I can do for the poor girl.
If I have any problems is there a number I can call and do yous collect from Washington?

I think this baby will give you a lot of satisfactions. If I were you I would take her to an expert vet for discovering all her inner malformations; the vet will give you some good advices, then you will find online a lot of interesting info about lethal piggies and then... your job will start in the best way. But it will be like having a disabled child, it is a parent' s affair, the pediatrician cannot know the troubles better than the parent himself...
I hope your baby will survive, maybe her defects are mild... :)
you are a great person...:luv:

Ha k you all I think her defects are only mild so far just researching the best vet for her in the area. But she is doing amazing already I love her so much already haha

I will keep posting haha she is tiny and sooo noisy bless her she had a really high pitched cry when she is hungry haha.

She's made herself a bed in the corner and settles as soon as she gets there. Navigating well till I can get her a nice bed x

I can only suggest you cut them off for her. When my pigs have been ill I've sat and snipped hay into pieces for them, or cut the hay seed heads off for them.

Well she seemed to be very noisy so I wondered if she was lonely. She picked a new comfort today and has slept and wandered exploring more since she chose haha she snuggles up goes and eats then back to snuggling means I'm getting 5 minutes to myself now haha. I am so proud of her
