ive just been reading through posts and some people give their pigs lettuce leaves/salad bags i just wondered if that was ok as i thought lettuce gave them the runs or is that just rabbits?

Iceberg lettuce has no nutritional value but other lettuces are fine to feed. Romaine is a firm favourite here. I also buy the salad bags (with no iceberg) when they're on offer :)

i thought it was all lettuce but its just iceberg lettuce is it,il have to remember that and share my salad bags with them

I think I remember Iceberg lettuce has particularly high levels of nitrate too due the way it's grown. Not sure if that's an old wives tale or not but I've always avoided feeding it. (except to me, I like it in sandwiches)

My guinea pigs were not exactly pleased with iceberg lettuce on those occasions it was the only lettuce left. They'd rather have nice dark green leaves anytime!

I thought the same about lettuce until I looked it up in more detail. I now feed my boys all lettuce (no iceberg) and they love them!

Iceberg was the suspect for Sophies runs

but Cos, Romaine and little gems all go down a treat

along will all manner of home grown stuff by dad harvested over the summer
he is a keen gardener and loved to share that with my girls

double the fun as they get to feed it to the piggies
