Hi all

Sorry, I know i'm popping up all the time but I am learning so much about guinea pigs on this forum.

Is all lettuce high in calcium? Can lettuce be fed everyday?

I know not to give Iceburg, so no worries there.

Lettuce is fine for piggies, our girls love Duet little gem's they normally get 2 leaves every other day each... Just be careful at first that it isn't making poo's too sloppy as it's high in Water

One of the most helpful threads on the forum is one by a poster Laura on Calcium/Phosphorus ratio, it's great because halfway down tells you the food and a suggested feeeding frequency http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=30297

Don't panic! Carrots are fine fed in moderation, the baby ones are best. Mine get a small carrot between them (three of them) every other day, it's prolonged over feeding that is risky.
 
I have been feeding them carrots regularly though :... (one carrot between 2 pigs everyday) not now though I have stopped. Will only give now and again now mallethead
 
i buy the mixed salad bags for my boys, they get through 1 every week or so, always check on the back though as quite a lot of them contain iceberg...I prefer sainsburys cosmopolitan mix.

Also romaine and little gem go down well...
 
Romaine lettuce is an absolute favourite for our four Piggys.:)
When we give them carrot they aren't happy and start looking around wondering where their yummy lettuce is.

I wouldn't worry, my last piggies had carrot every day & Poppy lived until she was seven :)

If you buy the small Channtenay carrots I am sure one between them would be fine. If not get some small loose ones & feed every other day about half a normal sized one between the two.
