Lice Infestation: Safe To Follow Up Lice N Easy Shampoo With Ivermectin?

Hi All,
I just discovered a nasty lice infestation on my piggy's rump! EEEK! Gave him and his cage mate a Lice n Easy bath and am wondering if I should follow this up with some topical ivermectin as Puck's infestation seemed pretty bad (lots of lice squirming around the hair shafts all over the longer hair on his rump). Couldn't see any on Bhalu. Is it safe to apply ivermectin right after a shampoo or do I need to wait? Or should I avoid the ivermectin altogether at first and see if the baths take care of it?
 
I would wait 48 hours before using any topical treatment. Also it is best to get the right strength product from the vet as a lot of the easily available ones are more of a preventative treatment and not suitable for a full infestation. I would throw away any hay and bedding too if possible.

Right, I did the double shampoo. Didn't leave it on for more than a few minutes as I was worried they'd get cold. They also start cleaning themselves as soon as they're out of the water and I don't want them ingesting too much of the shampoo...
 
Astro gets outbreaks a couple of times a year. They dont have to be in contact with another piggy with lice, they can just appear spontaneously. You do need to leave the shampoo on for the full 10 minutes for the second dosing. We tend to wash ours in the sink and then into the dry bath to sulk. It usually ends up with Astro (our boar) being forced to live up the loft by the 3 girls.
 
I've recently done all mine with Flea or Die shampoo - I shampooed each in turn and then put them in a large tub lined with lots of warm, dry towels and a couple of heated snuggle-safes so that they stayed warm. Once they had all been shampooed, the first one done was ready to be rinsed. I repeated a week later and so far, no more lice! I'm pretty certain they came in on the hay. I also disinfected all their cage with Trigene (including washable hidey's) and washed their bedding on the hottest wash I could. Seems to have done the trick as I can't see any lice or egg cases and they're certainly no longer scratching.
