Hi everyone, just noticed on one of my black piggies today that she had some dandruff like white specks around her rump. The hair is thick and skin look healthy, no sign of shedding, bald patches, irritated skin. She's had mites before and was successfully treated with Ivermectin, but this does not look similar at all. One of my other boys had a fungal infection which was fairly well cleared up using gorgeous guineas products and it also does not look like that. Basically she looks completely healthy, she just has little dandruffy bits. Could it be dandruff, or just dust from her hay/bedding? and its more noticeable because she's black. Also I'm travelling them all (5) today by car for 4-5 hours so I was not sure if a dose of Ivermectin would be a good idea or not.

:D It sounds like dandruff or scurf to me. Some of my piggies have it too. It is mostly on the rump area. A bit unsightly but does no harm. I don't know about the Ivermectin.

Could just be dry skin, my Barley gets it sometimes. I tend to dip him in Imaverol just in case it is a brewing fungal infection as it is gently but effective.

If it is on the rump it is possible that it is static lice. Do the specks look like they are stuck to the hairs? If so it won't do any harm to bath her with an antiparasitic shampoo (Lice n Easy is the GG product)

Thank you everyone! I think static lice sounds the most likely as the specks don't seem to move much. I have GG manukau and neem, will this be as effective?

I've used Ivermectin - today was their last day and whatever it was has gone! Thanks again for your help and suggestions.
