I have been unknowingly in contact with guinea pigs that have lice. I've been near my own guinea pigs since and I'm now super paranoid I've passed it onto them through eggs on my clothing or something.
Is the Beaphar ivermectin spot on strong enough? It says it kills lice but I obviously want the best treatment. I only have 1 pipette of Xeno and it's super expensive in comparison, especially as I have 6 piggies. But if Xeno is the only effective treatment I will spend the money, just curious about the Beaphar.

Thank you :...

I won't use the Beaphar treatments - too many reports of a reaction to the carrier fluid and the strength of the product is just too low to be really effective. Lice n Easy Gorgeous Guineas shampoo is very effective though, but indoor piggies only at this time of year.

We have had lice and mites a couple of times!, I used "lice and easy" shampoo from gorgeous guineas first then when completly dry I used ivermectin drop on http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ivermecti...?pt=UK_Pet_Supplies_Birds&hash=item2ec039f6da. there is plenty of it in that bottle to do 6 .. I had 8 at the time and I managed to treat 8 piggies and then did preventitive drops every week for about 6 weeks post infection and we have been all clear since! still some left in the bottle

Oh wow it's going to be a long day of shampoo-ing. .. off to gorgeous guineas I go!
That ivermectin drop looks quite good - is it easy to drop? Don't want to get the dosage wrong.

The ivermectin drops are very effective against mites and lice - though please allow 48 hrs after/before bathing to apply. A single drop for adult pigs as it's the 1% strength, I use this product a lot!

Brilliant, I will order that too then. Grr so annoyed! Makes me all itchy thinking about it ...

Yes its very easy! I was worried too but its like a little eye dropper and they dont come out fast. All piggies are fit and healthy and havent had another infestation since so it gets the thumbs up from me! I also ordered super souffle cream for any scratchy bits and that worked really well too

I inspected them earlier today and can't see any lice crawling like in the pigs I had handled, however I don't know how long the lifecycle of lice is .. e.g. could still be in egg form. I was searching through their fur, it's like having children and looking for headlice rolleyes

I'm still going to treat them regardless
