Hullo everyone

Little Lucky has lice and I bought Xeno450 from the vet to treat her and every pig in the herd. Some of my piggies are dark and it’s hard to see the lice so I'm treating every piggy.

I have thrown the hay they were eating out and I have stopped buying 10kg bales from our localish farm and I have ordered from Timothy hay as the herd loves it. I wasn’t happy with the bale as it seemed very rough, and cut very close to the ground. I had to remove nettles from it.

The herd had a complete cage clean on Friday and as we are moving them back in to the cabin tomorrow, they will have another one tomorrow. I do deep cleans with F10.

I have read the guides on this forum but I don’t know how often to clean the cage to help stop these lice. I am treating the herd tomorrow with the Xeno450 and I will be doing it again in 4 weeks as the vet told me.

How often should I clean the cage? (At least it isn’t ringworm this time!)

Oh dear I cant really help except do you know F10 does a special insecticide version that kills lice and fleas and mites? Ordinary F10 doesnt have an insecticide component, but the insecticide F10 has a 6 week long lasting insecticide action on hard surfaces. But I think lice just suck blood and need body heat and die if they arent on a host so hopefully they will just die in the cage? But in summer temperatures it must be a worry! Sending lice killing hugs, but like you said, at least its not ringworm x

This is the stuff! We had some big nasty flies in the piggy room one week when Piggle had a dirty grease gland bum and I got really paranoid, it killed the flies, dead on contact, even days after spraying. Obviously its a remove piggies from room, open windows, spray, wipe down, allow to dry a couple of hours thing!

I would give it another thorough clean once the lice have disappeared.

All the best!
